I know it’s just the end of July and you are groaning that I am bringing up Back to School, right? I know I hate the idea of the care free days of Summer coming to an end BUT I love school supplies AND saving money! Last year Ohio joined the tax-free weekend band wagon so it’s time to get my list ready. I know some schools already have their Back to School supply lists already available for the “early shoppers”, lol. I am guilty of snagging great deals as soon as they start rolling out in our local stores.
I have to admit I really want to have a nice filled file cabinet of supplies for all of my kids plus the extra supplies needed to fill our Giving Backpack. I also stock up on enough supplies to give items at Christmas and Easter like washable markers and colored pencils which we always seem to run out of. I have also been lucky enough to find some free items for review like paint, artist easel, and electronics.
Does your State offer Back to School Tax-Free Weekend? Check out this quick list to see if your State is listed! If you see your State listed then check out your state’s tax department website for complete details.
I know families that would make specific plans to meet up with relatives during the Tax Free Days in order to go Back to School shopping with Cousins, Aunts and Grandma. Being able to save that small percentage can go a long way when purchasing backpacks, lunch bags, calculators, laptops, tablets, and basic school supplies. If you know of a family living in one of these states be sure to remind them to check their States’ rules on when and what can be purchased.
