Barn Quilts have popped up quite a bit over the last decade or so. Many times they are created for a specific purpose like a Centennial or Bicentennial celebration. Each Barn Quilt design has a name and some have their own story behind the reason a particular design was chosen!
Our local county has a very nice brochure of all the Barn Quilts in its tour which consists of 60 locations! We have been wanting to try to visit more of them since they aren’t too far away. We packed snacks, lunch, and a nice selection of movies and audiobooks. Away we went to try and enjoy a handful of Barn Quilts!
The above design is called the Woodbox. It is located on Casstown-Sidney Road north of US 36.
The name of this design is Broken Arrow. The owner selected this pattern because he “thought it was cool”…..and it certainly is! The barn is a Bank Barn from the 1800’s is constructed of wood and field stone, and covered with metal. This Barn Quilt is located north of US 36 on Troy-Sidney Road.
The Crocus Wreath above can be found across from Duke Park on Troy-Sidney Road just north of Troy.
This design is called Ruins of Jericho and can be located on Fairview-Snodgrass Road east of Piqua.
Whenever we need to get out of the house and get some fresh air and do a little scenic driving we have plenty more Barn Quilts waiting to be discovered right in our own county!
