Summer time just screams BEACH to me which is a rare thing at our house since we live in Ohio. Our beaches are part of our lakes and State Parks so reading about beaches is something we can do so we can imagine we are there anytime. We have had the privilege of visiting Deer Creek State Park, Hueston Woods State Park, Maumee Bay State Park, and Lake Loramie State Park which all have lakes with beaches. I realize that it’s not exactly the same as an ocean beach but for now it’s the closet thing that we’ve got and we will take it!

What do you do when you do not live near the ocean or beach? You make some Ocean and Beach Sensory Bins for your children to learn, play, and explore. Each of these sensory bins contains some element of either the ocean or beach while some contain both! Sensory bins are a great way to expose children to new topics without being to technical or seem like you are teaching.
Plastic bin or tray to house your items
Sensory material- sand, water, jello, or slime
Beach themed items-crabs, seagulls, shells,etc.
Ocean themed items– sharks, whales, octopus, mermaids, sea turtles, etc.
Once you know which theme you want to create then you can choose on of the sensory bins listed below. Gather all you items without your child knowing and maybe even throw in a Beach book or Ocean book or two for even more learning fun!

Today we went to Kiwanis Park and had food from the Salvation Army traveling food truck.This park has a nice variety of play equipment for children over 5 years old or younger children with big siblings willing to help them play. Some of the structures requires longer legs than a preschooler might have unless they are very energetic and strong!
There were two slides and a tunnel that the children played on as well as a swinging thing and monkey bars. There is also a set of three twirling steering wheels and a flippy bar.
