I really feel strongly about teaching my children to be independent and that includes learning how to cook! I realize that many recipes that we often have for lunch or a snack could easily be made by Eldest and Princess if given the time to learn. Today we are sharing how to make homemade quesadillas.
It’s great to have a “basic recipe” that can be tweaked and changed to meet the individual taste buds if each child without too much fuss. You know how it goes one like avocados, one like onions, one hates green peppers, and everyone likes cheese and chicken…
First you will want to gather all of your ingredients. We suggest the following items:
soft tortilla shells
shredded cheese
cooked chicken
avocado sliced
onions and green peppers cooked
mushrooms thinly sliced
sour cream
salsa
Second, you will want to place on tortilla on a plate and cover with a thin layer of shredded cheese.
Next sprinkle on your shredded chicken and selected veggies.
Third, sprinkle another light layer of shredded cheese. Next top the quesadilla with a second tortilla shell.
Last place your quesadilla into a large pan and cook over medium to low heat turning once so both sides are light brown and cheese is melted through.
Add sour cream, salsa, or guacamole to your plate to dip your quesadilla slices in. We use a pizza cutter to slice up the quesadilla to make eating fun and easy!
