Nest Craft

January 17, 2016 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Winter is a great time to learn about birds, bird watching, and nests! If you have feeders in your yard then you can get an up close and personal look at birds. If you do not have access to birds in real-life then books can help do the trick!

We used four different books for reference and to spark some interest for our nest craft project! The books we used which can be found via our Amazon affiliate links were: Birds, Nests & Eggs , My Baby Blue Jays, A Nest Full of Eggs and The Best Nest .

After we looked through the books for ideas of what nests look like we tried making some of our own! We used brown crinkle paper and skinny straw-like raffia.

First we tried to shape them by hand. It sorta worked. Princess wasn’t too happy with how it turned out. I thought it looked pretty nice myself!

Then we used school glue on an empty applesauce cup to help with a nest shape. Princess wanted to try using a small water balloon and a jumbo plastic egg to see if that would work.
