Summer heat lends itself to quicker cooler meals and sides like pasta salad. I did not grow up eating or learning to make pasta salad. You see my family never went to yearly family reunions or very many Summer potlucks or picnic dinners. Since I enjoy eating pasta salads that I have eaten at such events it only seems natural for me to learn to make my own. My hubby likes pasta salad as well and one day hope that our children will enjoy them as much as we do!

Summer allows us many opportunities to get out of the house for many adventures including a day trip a few days a week. These simple trips can be to a park that is 30-45 minutes way to meet up with friends we haven’t seen all school year or to a beach or amusement park within 2 hours of our house.

One way that we prepare for our busy Summer days is to make sure our water pitcher is filled each night. We fill up our water bottles so that they are cold in the morning when we head to the park. Nothing like heading out the door to find that someone left their water bottle in the car or forgot to fill it the night before. Ice is a commodity at our house since we don’t have an ice maker!
