Indoor Easter Egg Hunt

April 16, 2014 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Got super yucky weather scheduled for your Easter egg hunt day? No, problem just keep the egg hunt indoors. We have only had to have indoor Easter egg hunts a couple of times. Once due to freezing cold and once due to a ton of rain. No one wanted to get their nice dress clothes messed up.

Here are some quick tips for Indoor Easter Egg Hunts:

Tip #1 ONLY use plastic eggs. Do not use real eggs. I’ll repeat that DO NOT USE REAL EGGS unless you want to find it a month later by smell. Yep, we made that mistake ONCE while growing up an will never do that again!

Tip#2 Have a couple of other fun activities like coloring pages or bubbles ready. Add a willing uncle to blow said bubbles to make it MORE fun!

Tip#3 Be sure that everyone has similar amount of eggs which equals similar amount of prizes or candy. We have remedied this by giving each child 6 eggs with their own design and then all the plain eggs are bonus or fair game for anyone. This give the kid’s a challenge to find their particular eggs and allow the hiders to hide eggs to the child’s age and ability.

Tip #4 Have fun. Be safe. Check on kids to be sure cousins are playing nice:) You never know how much or little sleep the kids have gotten. Be sure to check the egg hunt area for safety hazards like outlets and poisonous plants before the hunt begins.

Tip #5 Don’t be surprised if a little mess happens! Sometimes little kids get excited and make messes. Be prepared to have some mess depending on the types of items in your baskets and what prizes you give for the egg hunt.

God Bless Our Easter- Review

April 6, 2014 By Eldest Leave a Comment

God Bless our Easter is another great choice for Spring learning about God. It would make a great addition to an Easter basket or just general learning about God’s great love during Spring. The book itself is a semi-board book of thicker page quality.

God Bless Our Easter

Lil’ Red (soon to be changed to Big Red) really loved all the animals in the book. I loved how easy the pages were to turn and the sturdiness! I know that this book will be read over and over again to my too little book lovers!

God Bless our Easter Collage

Description:

Little ones learn to look for all God’s Easter blessings.

Preschoolers can’t help but notice all the new wonders of springtime, and God Bless Our Easter emphasizes that each blessing comes from God! Lambs, bunnies, ducklings, piglets, chicks—lots of snuggly farm animals will take your little ones through the sweet rhyming story and have them asking to read the book long after Easter is past.

The second book in the new God BlessTM series, God Bless Our Easter from the same illustrator of God Bless You and Good Night.

Features & Benefits:

  • Teaches little ones about God’s blessings at Eastertime
  • Charming animal illustrations and sweet rhyming text
  • Perfect seasonal purchase or Easter basket gift

It’s Easter!!  Our Busy Bags need to be refreshed as the kids aren’t playing with them anymore.  As I was holding a fussy Baby Red in need of distraction, I saw an Easter commercial and thought, how about making some Easter themed bags!  I settled him to play and jumped on Pinterest for some Easter Busy Bag ideas.

Culture Swap: Easter Mini Swap

Culture Swap: Easter Mini Swap

Easter Swap ItemsHere’s a picture of the items we sent to Australia as part of the Worldwide Culture Swap Easter Mini Swap! We tried to choose some things native to USA. We had wanted to include a small flag or stickers but were out of luck at our local stores. (They had not stocked up on items for Memorial Day,yet!)

We were able to find a United States coloring book, Easter coloring book, and included some of our favorite candies! We included foam feet and foam butterflies to allow the family to create their own games or crafts. The puzzle erasers are a great Easter Basket item for loads or creating building time. We bought some for ourselves a few years ago and they are quite fun.

For my children’s Easter baskets we try to add candy and some useful items like small toys, games, etc. This year will be a little different with one bigger shared item for my three children. (Not saying since Easter isn’t here, yet!)

We have corresponded via email with the family and found that our traditions are somewhat similar. Knowing we celebrated similarly allowed me to not add things they already had. I printed and laminated 12 days of Resurrection Story cards and an Easter Rock Prayer. I did not send a letter with the package, but we will continue to write emails. Their family will need to gather and paint 8 rocks to go with the prayer card otherwise known as the “jelly bean prayer”. Rooks make it so you can read the prayer and the children can interact with it in a more tangible way and not be eating a TON of jelly beans!

I had read to be cautious and mindful of shipping charges! Boy were they right. Our box was less than 4 lbs. to ship and cost over $30 in postage. I did not research UPS or FEDEX but we will be doing so for our next swap!

We cannot wait to see what our Australian Family is sending to us! We will post once we receive their package.

It’s November 1st and that means a new topic for Nature Book Club. This month we are learning all about trees and twigs. Since this is a broad topic I thought I would find some books for my kids as well as yours which should help them learn about trees and twigs. I am including both field guides and picture books so that children of all ages can learn about trees!
