Have you heard of Rainbow Bears? I bet you have seen them and have wondered what on earth can you do with them besides count and sort them. Today I am sharing with you a super simple and fun way to learn with Rainbow Bears via our Rainbow Bears Sensory Bin! This is our first post for a new series called #toolsforlearning which we will be sharing on our blogs and Instagram!
Lil’ Red is my sensory loving boy so this activity is perfect for him. He not only loves all things that involve his hands but also anything new, fun, and colorful. Now I have owned these bears since before Eldest was born but they have been stored away most of those years. I used them a few years ago for some tot trays during the year I did CC nursery. So these “old” bears are totally new to both Big Red and Lil’ Red which makes this activity even more fun!
I gathered my supplies quickly to create this hands-on learning activity. I used a clear Large Rectangle Container as my base then filled it with brown crinkle cut paper . Next I dropped in two large Bear Family Rainbow Counters of each color. I checked my tot tray tools box to see what tools, scoops, and tongs I had to use. I chose some Gator Grabber Tweezers as well as salad tongs from Dollar Tree and an old formula scoop.
I sat this activity out for Lil’ Red to explore and he sat right down and dug in! He had lots of fun scooping and picking up the bears. He used the salad tongs first and once he was satisfied with this he put everything back in the tub to start over.
He used the jumbo tweezers and was able to get some of the rainbow bears out of the tub of crinkle paper. He was so proud of himself and his smile shows it!
Tools that I used for this activity:
- Large Rectangle Container
- brown crinkle cut paper
- Bear Family Rainbow Counters
- Gator Grabber Tweezers
