I loathe Facebook even though I use it daily for work and support. Did you know that there are a handful of Type 1 Diabetes support groups on Facebook? I am sharing all of the national ones that I have found. I skipped sharing local ones as those will not apply to everyone. Type 1 Diabetes is such a difficult thing to manage and being able to vent or ask questions and get answers right away is phenomenal. I do not take medical advice but ideas to help assist in the day to day management of Eldest’s Type 1 Diabetes!
If you or your child has Type 1 Diabetes then do yourself a favor and read through these support group descriptions and find a few that you can join!
CGM in the Cloud– a group for those to share their experiences with open source solutions to send data from the Dexcom G4 to the cloud so that it can be accessed anywhere…so our kids/friends/parents can be monitored while they are in another room, in another state, at a play date, sleepover, sports activity, or even at school. We are closer than ever to the prospect of a safer, more effective, less burdensome life with type 1 diabetes for millions of people and WE ARE NOT WAITING!
Dexcom-This is a group for people who use (or know people who use) Dexcom™ Continuous Glucose Monitoring technology. This is not run by Dexcom and is no way affiliated with the company. This group is closed so that conversations don’t appear on your timeline, but do not assume that it gives you any privacy beyond that.
Moms with T1 Diabetes-Moms with T1 always need support! This is a closed and safe place to share what is going on in the day to day life.
Omnipod & Dexcom Users– This group is for anyone using both the Omnipod and Dexcom systems. A place to share information and for support. The main goal of this group is for support. Promoting self/family businesses or products where personal financial gain is the objective is not permitted in this group.
Parents of Type 1 Diabetics– This is a group for parents to chat about children with T1 diabetes. It is a place where you can come to vent your feelings and share with other parents going through the same thing you are. It is not a place to air your criticism of how other parents parent their children. Be as supportive as you can. No posts will be allowed in this group for exchanging or selling diabetes supplies.
Type 1 Diabetes and Pregnancy– This group is for women who have type 1 diabetes and want to get pregnant, are pregnant, or have ever been pregnant, and the wonderful people that support them.
T1D Mod Squad– This is a place for parents of Type One Diabetic children to come together and share, educate, and form lasting relationships! This group is made up of not only mom’s of diabetics, but dad’s too! We have aunts and direct caregivers. My hope is you find all of the care you may need here along with some comedy as we walk this journey together!
T1- CGM information– Welcome to the CGM, group. Here is a place we can share information on CGM’s, ask questions, and advise. We do not claim to know everything about CGMs but feel there should be a place where we can share information on what our hospitals offer and how to get a CGM and the process, please post up cgm related posts. CGMs are becoming more and more widely used and there needs to be the information out there. Any abusive language (within reason) will not be tolerated, any files uploaded are there for information only, please ask if you want to use them especially ones with personal details in them.
T1 Hangout– This group is for T1’s, Parents, spouses, or caregivers of a T1. Please remember none of us are Doctors and can not give medical advice. We are all just simply sharing our experiences and what works for us. Please contact your Endo or CDE team for medical advice or before making any changes to your T1’s care via insulin (pumps or otherwise).
T-1 Parents– For T-1 parents. To find support and the encouragement we all need. If you cant play nice don’t play at all. I don’t want to have to kick someone out for being rude so act like a adult if you don’t agree with someone that is fine but if you reply in a unpleasant way I will ask you to leave.
