We just recently visited all of these places to bring you the best and most current information for you to enjoy. There’s also a Summer Photo Challenge hosted by Miami County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau that we are also taking part in and so can anyone who visits Miami County.
Located on St. Rte. 185 heading West out of Piqua is a nice place to stop for your sweet tooth. They offer over 20 flavors of taffy, 5 lb gummy bear, bulk candy, typical candy by the piece. They carry a nice selection of handmade bags, purses, bracelets, and offer candy bouquets for all occasions. If you want to host a party then you can stop in and order a Candy Buffet for as many people as you want to invite.
If you are craving a doughnut for the morning or a Hungarian pastry for afternoon tea then this is the place to be. Right on Main street with on street parking. Cakes for all occasions as well as cabbage rolls are on the menu year round. Recipes have been used for over 75 years so you can enjoy the same flavors as your great grandparents!
From flour, to spices, to bulk dried beans, you can be sure to find it at Troy Bulk Barn and Deli located right on the square across from Mayflower Arts Center and next to Around About Books. You can purchase deli sliced meat, cheese, and gluten free bakery goods. If you are in the mood for a bowl of soup, a sandwich, or ice cream then you are in luck!
What is better then a brand new book? A used rare or hard to find classic book that you must add to your collection. With over 60,000 books, comics, audiobooks, LP’s, dvd’s and cd’s you are sure to find something that suits your fancy. Can’t decide on what to buy? Then try a local author or a mystery bag filled with either fiction or romance novels.
Let your creative side run wild during a Friday night Paint Party or relax and enjoy an Indie film or concert in this unique venue. Once the home of Mayflower Movies now a fabulous space to make or buy art or learn how to Improv. Summer Camps for kids are offered for ages 5 and up.
Oils and Vinegar’s are their specialty. Don’t be fooled into thinking you can get your favorite all year long because they switch hemispheres every 6 months. Make sure you buy your favorites so you don’t run out! Be sure to stop in and enjoy a free tasting at anytime or book your private party for a larger group. Located across the square in Troy.
Got an aviation or history lover in the family? Be sure to head south on 25A and check out the planes and artifacts found within the two hangar museum. This is one stop on the Aviation Trail that will earn you a stamp for the Wilbur Bear. Each Summer they offer an Aviation Camp and Robotics Camps for kids 10 and up. Lego Robotics Leagues are held through the school year.
I was really impressed by the amount of information that I could find at my local visitor’s bureau. I loved how it was organized by geographical region. There were wooden shaped Ohio plaques that had the region painted that corresponded to the brochures that were below it. Very easy to find great things to do and places to see near and far.
