Children’s Garden Play Space Dayton Children’s Hospital {Dayton, Ohio}

April 5, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Just across the street from Dayton Children’s Hospital and next to the Ronald McDonald House a wonderful surprise awaits! The Children’s Garden Play Space is a very welcoming addition to the hospital complex.

Children's Garden Play Space

The park is filled with fun and exciting activities for all ages that center around a garden theme. Right away you are greeted by a jumbo caterpillar and butterfly. Eldest (14 years old at the time) is standing underneath the gateway to give you an idea of the scale of that caterpillar!

Trammel Fossil Park (Sharonville, Ohio)

February 15, 2019 By Thaleia 3 Comments

We were heading to Cincinnati for a media dinner at Freddy’s Steakburgers and Frozen Custard and decided to stop and play along the way. I looked up some parks in the area and found out about the Trammel Fossil Park located in Sharonville.

Trammel Fossil Park

I had never heard of the Trammel Fossil Park and I have lived in Ohio all my life. We have been fossil hunting before at Caesar’s Creek before Lil’ Red was born so I thought it would be fun for him to hunt some fossils. We brought some empty ice cream buckets to help with our fossil collection.

Chocolate Factory Tours

November 6, 2018 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Since we live in a state with multiple Chocolate Factory Tours I thought it might be fun to share each one. Hopefully we will be able to visit a new one this year as part of our Botany curriculum! Eldest and Princess have visited Anthony Thomas Candy Company in Columbus and have sampled chocolates from Winans Chocolates and Coffees many times. Unfortunately Ester Price Candies in Dayton no longer gives tours but they are listed under the virtual tour section since they have a video about their chocolate production.

October 18, 2018 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Cooler Autumn weather has got me in the hiking mood. Since the weather is colder I wanted to be sure I had the proper hiking gear to be able to enjoy being outdoors. I have joined a few groups to learn more about hiking and will share those with you in another post called Hiking for Beginners. I will also be sharing more about various hiking packs once I try those out.

October 16, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Did you know that Tuesday Night is Family Night at Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers? Well, it is at the following Cincinnati and Dayton store locations- Amelia, Centerville, Harrison, Milford, Redbank, West Chester and Winton. We have been to both the Centerville and Redbank store locations and have loved each visit.
Family Night at Freddy's
The Centerville visit included a Mom’s Dinner with the boys while Dad and daughter caught a movie. Big Red and Lil’ Red loved the beach balls, mini frisbees, and balloons that they got as part of the Family Night activities and prizes. We got to try the Frozen Custard for the first time and loved it.
