Ohio Barn Quilt Driving Tours

September 1, 2018 By Thaleia 4 Comments

Barn Quilt driving tours have been around for over a decade in Ohio but did you know that over 15 counties offer self-guided driving tours? Gathering research and information for this post was fun since I learned a lot about each county and how their barn quilt trails all got their start. The whole thing began back in 2005 in Adams County when Donna Sue Groves had a plan to honor her mother and the barn quilt trails began!

We just happen to live in a county that offers a barn quilt tour and have stopped at many of them over the past five years or so. My youngest boys thought I was crazy at first pulling into a driveway of someone we did not know just to stop and take a picture. Soon they learned and understood that it was okay for us to go exploring the location of each barn quilt as long as we minded our manners.

Have you enjoyed a Barn Quilt #DrivingTour? #OhioFinditHere #OhioExplored #OhioHeritage

Ripley’s Attractions Gatlinburg, TN #USFamilyGuide #ad

June 24, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Ripley’s which provided us free tickets in exchange for our honest review.

I think everyone has heard about Ripley’s but not everyone knows about all the attractions that they offer in the Gatlinburg area! We were staying in a cabin for 3 nights so we had only 3 days to visit as much as we could. We were not able to visit all the attractions this trip but plan to go back Spring 2018!

Summer Nature Hike with The Listening Walk FIAR & #NatureBookClub {Link Up}

June 20, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

June is here and so is another installment of our Nature Book Club. We choose The Listening Walk as our book since this month’s theme is Nature Hike and Discovery! We also decided to visit a smaller park in our town that has paved paths in the middle of the forest. This park also allows dogs on leash to visit which made it fun for Princess to bring Bayley. We made sure to bring our binoculars, a few smaller field guides and water.

Spring Wildflowers Identification Hike #NatureBookClub {Link Up}

May 25, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

With May almost gone and hot Summer temps on our heals it was definitely time for a Spring Wildflowers Identification Hike. It has rained quite a bit and I knew that more flowers would be popping up over the forest floor. We live in a county with over 20 preserves and reserves and less than an hour from 4 state parks so it was time to visit a few and do some wildflower identification. We cannot pick flowers in these areas so we won’t be using our DIY flower press except for the ones we find at home or grandma’s house!

First we gathered our supplies for a short hike which included out hats, sunscreen, water, magnifying glass, and field guides. We own two field guides specific to wildflowers: Spring Wildflowers of Ohio is free from ODNR and the other we bought called Fandex Family Field Guides: Wildflowers.

Road Trip Attraction: Concrete Field of Corn Dublin, Ohio #OhioFindItHere #DublinCVB #expcols

March 29, 2018 By Thaleia 4 Comments

Riley and I went on a couples road trip to Columbus last Spring and have yet to share our adventures. Today I am sharing with you an Ohio oddity located in Dublin, Ohio called Field of Corn which makes for a great stop on a road trip to Columbus. I had first heard about this Field of Corn from Tonya Prater of Travel Inspired Living!

Road Trip Attraction Concrete Filed of Corn Dublin, Ohio

Since this road trip attraction is free and open to the public I knew that we would want to check this Concrete Field of Corn out for ourselves. We drove up to the location and were quite surprised at how precise the rows of corn cobs had been erected. I can envision our children running through the rows and around the corn cobs playing tag or hide and seek!
