Summer Nature Hike with The Listening Walk FIAR & #NatureBookClub {Link Up}

June 20, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

June is here and so is another installment of our Nature Book Club. We choose The Listening Walk as our book since this month’s theme is Nature Hike and Discovery! We also decided to visit a smaller park in our town that has paved paths in the middle of the forest. This park also allows dogs on leash to visit which made it fun for Princess to bring Bayley. We made sure to bring our binoculars, a few smaller field guides and water.

Bayley was excited to run up the stairs and everyone followed quickly behind her and Princess! We take the stairs FIRST because there’s a lot of them and it’s easier to go up then try to come down then after a hike.

Just like the little girl in the book we brought our dog along. Princess used two leashes so that walking Bayley didn’t make one arm hurt. She is such a smart cookie! Princess was able to enjoy the hike a lot more since her arm didn’t hurt at the end.

We walked around a bend in the path and Lil’ Red and I discovered a tree with a ton of holes in it! We had just been learning about woodpeckers and sapsuckers earlier in the week and he is sure that the holes were made by one of those birds. What do you think? I think her may be right!

This picture was taken of a tree whose bark had fallen of partly to reveal the insect tracks underneath. I do not remember which insect usually make these tracks but it was a great nature discovery nonetheless.
