November 28, 2022 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

We are back again sharing the second part of The Harvard Classics in audiobook format. I will keep this post formatted in a similar manner to The Harvard Classics Audiobook Edition Part 1. This is a great list of classic literature compiled by the President of Harvard back in 1909 originally dubbed “The 5 Foot Shelf”.

Disclaimer: I have not personally listened to or read through all of these so please us this list of audiobooks at your own discretion.

American Sign Language Resources

August 14, 2020 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Homeschoolers often make it a priority to learn a foreign language or two and what better one to learn than American Sign Language. Being able to communicate with the deaf community within your own town or country is a precious gift. My teen daughter wants to try and learn American Sign Language as a foreign language credit. I am giving her the option to “learn at home” via homeschool or through the local community college as part of dual enrollment.

Since I found these resources for my own family I thought that I might as well share them for others to use as a homechool resource. Please feel free to share this with your friends and family who are interested in America Sign Language.

The Harvard Classics Audiobook Edition Part 1

September 24, 2019 By Thaleia 5 Comments

Many of you dear readers are avid learners and researches but maybe you have NOT heard about the Harvard Classics- gasp! I came across this list a few years ago BEFORE my older two were in High School.

The Harvard Classics originally known as Dr. Eliot’s Five Foot Shelf, is a 51-volume anthology of classic works from world literature, compiled and edited by Harvard University president Charles W. Eliot and first published in 1909. “Dr.Charles W.Eliot, the former Harvard president who edited the series, maintained that if one read just 15 minutes a day from the 51 volumes he assembled, it would constitute “a good substitute for a liberal education to anyone who would read them with devotion.”

I want to tackle this huge list of books but there’s no way this mama of 4 is going to lug huge books around for the next several years! Then I thought why not create an audio addition that can be uploaded to your phone or Kindle! (you can purchase a Kindle on Amazon here or grab the free Kindle App for pc, mac, phone or tablets!)

High School Homeschool Curriculum 2019-2020

August 23, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I cannot believe that Summer is more than half way over and that Back to School sales have begun. While we are still trying to bask in the lazy days of Summer I am planning our high school homeschool curriculum choices for the upcoming school year. Eldest and Princess are both working on credits to add to their high school transcripts.

Since we have four children that will ALL be homeschooling this year I try to keep things simple with having everyone study a few of the same core subjects. This year we will have two high school homeschool students and two elementary homeschool students. Check out all of our elementary homeschool posts for younger aged resources.
