Up Close and Personal: African Safari Wildlife Park

June 28, 2015 By Thaleia

Do you have animal lovers like I do? Have you taken them to a zoo to only want more animal interactions? Then I would suggest taking them to the African Safari  Wildlife Park in Port Clinton just minutes from the Miller Ferry boatdock.

Up Close and Personal: African Safari Wildlife Park

You have the chance to participate in two different tours: a vehicle feeding tour and a walk through area. Both tours allow for some really great experiences for your child to see animals up close and personal. There’s nothing quite like feeding a llama, an elk or buffalo from the window of your car.

Even our toddler was totally engaged from the safety of his car seat! He wanted to reach out and pet the animals.

How about getting the chance to take a selfie with a bison or elk? Probably not many people get to check that off their bucket list! Hubby and Eldest accomplished this at African Safari Wildlife Park.

My kids really enjoyed being able to feed from either front seat of the car. They only got a little worried when one of the elk tried to take the entire cup from their hands. There was a ranger who had a huge stack of cups on the back of her golf cart which tells me this guy was a pro at cup snatching.

The walking tour allowed us to get out and stretch our legs while asking questions of the worker who was feeding the animals.

With admission you get both tours which even includes a free camel ride! Yes, you read that right you get to ride on a real life camel! My kids were so excited that it didn’t cost anything extra- you know with this uber frugal mom of there’s, lol.

I was surprised at the variety of the animals of the walk through tour area. We got to see Porcupines, Macaws, Gibbons, Warthogs and a handful of other animals.

Disclosure: As part of the #LakeErieLove tour, I received a complimentary admission to African Safari Wildlife Park. All opinions are my own.
