Child Passenger Safety Week #TestDriveParenthood #ad

September 14, 2017 By Thaleia 2 Comments

This post is in partnership with Britax and SheBuysCars for the Britax Infant Car Seat Launch Campaign.
Child Passenger Safety has been a passion of mine for MANY years. Since my children are now ages 4-14 they are all out of infant seats but not out of 5 pt. harness car seats. I used to be a CPST (Child Passenger Safety Technician) so I learned a lot about all the mistakes that can be made when installing a car seat.

I have also personally experienced how not all car seats fit all vehicles. I recommend fitting your car seat to your vehicle to be sure that it’s a good fit each and very time you use it. This proper fit will ensure that your child rides safe every time.

Child Passenger Safety Facts:

1) Every 33 seconds one child under the age of 13 is involved in a crash according to NHTSA
2) Road injuries are the leading cause of unintentional deaths to children in the United States.
3) Children should ride in a vehicle back seat until they are at least 13 years old.

Number 3 seems to be the biggest mistake that I see parents making or that parents and older children just do not understand. I explain to my children about air bags and proper seat belt safety along with staying seated in a vehicle at all times.

Next week a handful of events will be held across the country at Lexus Dealerships along with Britax and CPST’s. These events are being held to help soon-to-be parents, new parents, grandparents, sitters, and anyone caring for an infant under 1 years of age! Be sure to check to see if an event is near you! If you live near one of these events then you can be rest assured that you will learn how to install your car seat or try install the new Britax Endeavours car seat.
