Journaling through Google Drive

February 11, 2014 By Thaleia 38 Comments

Journaling through Google Drive

Tired of buying paper journals? Need something fresh and new that can be accessed anywhere in the world that has internet connection. How about Google Drive? A very simple and easy to use program that Google launched quite some time ago.

If you aren’t familiar with Google Drive do not fear. It is very simple and similar to Word. I even have some simple steps on accessing Google Drive and beginning your first journal entry!

google drive

You will need to be using Google Chrome internet browser and have a gmail account. Then in the upper right hand corner once your are logged into Google you will need to click onto the group of tiny squares. Then the box below should open up:

google desktop

Next you will want to click on the DRIVE symbol. You will see this box open in the upper left hand of your screen. (You may also choose to click the blue box which says, “Download Google Drive for PC.”) :

google drive

Click on the word CREATE in order to open up the drop down selections of Document, Presentation, Spreadsheet, Form, and Drawing.  See image below:

google doc

Now click on the word DOCUMENT in order to open up your blank document for your journal entry! The next screen on your pc should look like this:

google anywhere

Once in your Document you will want to edit the title (upper left corner where it says Untitled document) and begin typing. One really awesome thing in Google is the auto-saving that occurs. Get those thoughts on paper to keep secret or later share with the world. The choice is yours.

I hope you found this short tutorial quick and easy. Please leave a comment or ask a question about Google if you need more tutorials.

I want to add that you get the same toolbar for Google in Firefox as well. I think it’s pretty standard on all OS now. I use Google Drive for everything.
