This year I really want to focus on some educational goals as part of the “big picture” of homeschooling. I created a list of skills and goals that I would like each of my children to have mastered by the time they “leave the nest” and go to college, get married, or live on their own. These items I feel are crucial for them to succeed and become the adult that God has planned for them to be.
2013-2014 School Year Goals
BABY SCHOOL (C-4):
Our youngest son is due August 21 and I know he will grow and change so much through this school year! We are very excited to add a new little person to our family and school. His big siblings have been anxiously awaiting his arrival. I have loads of ideas pinned on my Baby School board and will continue to find new activities to encourage growth.
PRESCHOOL (Lil’ Red):
Lil’ Red continues to amaze me at his vocabulary and the concepts he understands. We will strive to continue to explore new skills and reinforce the skills he already has. He is a great help around the house with putting his shoes away, clothes into hamper, clothes into washer, and vacuuming. We will work on writing letters and numbers as well as color recognition and basic sight words. Potty training will also be a big part of each day.
You can read some more about Lil’ Red’s school within my Preschool Prep Series: Assessment post, Curriculum post and Art & Music.
FOURTH GRADE (Princess):
Princess wants to continue to pursue ballet which means we will need to enroll her into a 2nd program at a new school. She also wants to take a cheer-leading class, art class, and go into 4-H. Big things are happening with our little lady! For an in-depth look at what Princess is studying please check out: What Will We Do For 4th Grade Homeschool?
FIFTH GRADE (Eldest):
Eldest still is very passionate about Legos, weapons, drawing, and learning basic survival skills. He will take an art class, join Lego League, and go into 4-H. He will be a big brother to 3 siblings which is a big responsibility! For an in-depth look at what Eldest will be studying please check out: What Will We Do for 5th Grade Homeschool?
