Operation Rebirth Boarding Academy St. Paris, Ohio #30Places30Days

May 16, 2017 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Educational Games for 2-8 Year Olds

One of our favorite places to visit is Operation Rebirth Christian Boarding Academy. I’ve known the directors since elementary school and went to school with the house mother. When I need some time in the country and a good friendly visit I head out to St. Paris!

When I bring my children we often head outside to the barn or pasture to see what animals are on the farm. Part of the philosophy behind Operation Rebirth is to provide life skills and farm training to the boys that come to live there.

Day 16 of #30Places30Days is #pettingzoo #zoo or #aquarium! #familytravel #localtravel

We love seeing and petting the baby animals. Each year there are baby calves which come from a dairy farm. These bull calves would not be kept alive if not cared for by Operation Rebirth. While they are raised to be eaten they are very well loved and cared for until they grow up.

Having a family of 5 at home plus up to 8 growing teen boys to feed on a daily basis is no small task.  Piglets are another food source as well as learning opportunity on the farm. The pigs are feed and cared for as part of the daily farm chores.

Guinea Fowl were added to be productive members of the farm in order to eat bugs and ticks.

Two horses live at Operation Rebirth and provide a recreational outlet for the house family and the boys that come to live at Operation Rebirth.

Taking care of all the animals on the farm allows the boys experience in Animal Husbandry. Other skills that are taught include woodworking, welding, archery, butchering, and gardening.

Operation Rebirth Boarding Academy also includes a campus which serves as a transition house for boys who are young adults and need to finish high school. They are able to earn their high school diploma from operation rebirth and live on their own. The student gets a job and pays rent while attending high school.

Operation Rebirth Mission Statement:

“It is better to build boys than to mend men.”

The mission of Operation Rebirth Christian Boarding Academy and Family Ministries shall be to support, strengthen and prepare young men to live successfully for Jesus Christ in our post-Christian society. To create an environment where students and their families can clearly see their need for salvation in Christ.

Churches and homeschool groups can schedule tours by calling (937) 663-5765.
