We love taking advantage of various Summer Reading Club programs from a variety of different libraries. Since I look up lots of different Summer Reading Club dates and activities I thought I would share those with my loyal local readers! Our family usually takes part in a handful of programs at various library locations around the Miami Valley but I am always looking for more free family friendly events especially for my teens. (Edited: With the limitations put on libraries and parks due to the coronavirus I thought I better update this post every couple of weeks during 2020)

Each Summer I build our calendar around the free programs that I find and Summer Reading Club programs are a big part in our fun! I am loving all the variety of programs the libraries I have contacted so far have told me about from STEM to music to art. We also make sure to prepare Summer Reading spaces as soon as the weather is warm and are sure to look up the Kids Summer Movie schedule.

Reading Programs and Recommendations

Bradford Public Library (Bradford, Ohio)

Dayton Metro Library & Various Branch Locations (Montgomery, Ohio)

Dayton Metro Library is excited to host our annual summer reading program. This year, it’s a different kind of Summer Challenge with lots of new activities that count towards goals. You can check out digital and physical books (of course!), watch wonderful online performances, participate in virtual summer camps, complete electronic activities, or enjoy any school, parent or community organization’s recommended enrichment activities. All your fun this summer adds up, helping you earn imagination-themed prizes! They will announce special curbside prize pick-up days, and we will make arrangements to mail prizes for those families who are unable to come to the Library (some restrictions apply).

Champaign County Library (Urbana, Ohio)

The Summer Reading Programs , runs from June 1 to July 31 and allows families and readers of all ages to log and read books for prizes and badges.  Our reading programs are through Beanstack – where babies, kids, and teens can all participate to win prizes by completing reading requirements for their category. It also includes book and activity logging, badges and registration for all members of the family under one account. Simply register one time to participate in library sponsored reading programs and activities all year round!

Greene County Public Library (Fairborn, Ohio)

Milton-Union Public Library (West Milton, Ohio)
