Action Painting Like Jackson Polluck

May 7, 2016 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I have been meaning to do some action painting like Jackson Polluck for a few years now. I was so excited when Messy Little Monster announced her Exploring Famous Artists series. I jumped at the chance to participate sharing how we created Jackson Polluck paintings.

We watched a couple of videos and read a few books before we created our own works of art.  You can check out one of the books called called Jackson Pollock (Getting to Know the World’s Greatest Artists).

I went to JoAnn’s and bought a 5 pack of canvases. They were on sale plus I used my 15% teacher discount!  My goal is to have all four children create a piece of art work to hang behind our couch in the living room. The paint that we used was given to us from Home Depot during one of our kid workshop sessions.

Lil’ Red and Princess were the only ones up and dressed before the rain hit. We quickly ran outside and taped a black plastic tablecloth to our picnic table. Princess had selected painting tools and paint colors.

She used a nasal aspirator that was hers from birth, a plastic fork, a spikey ball, and a homemade rubber band brush! (If you don’t want to make a paint brush you can buy a pack of funky brushes) I am so excited to see what the other three create using the same colors.
