Tips for Making Water Coloring LESS Messy

November 7, 2017 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

We have found a few tricks to making the use of water colors less messy even with a preschool child! Anytime I ask Lil’ Red if he wants to paint or do art he always answered YES and wants to water color. I realize that many families hate art and since projects for the mess they can make but I am that crazy mom who gives her child a crayon as soon as they can grasp it! I also allow my children to use scissors at an early age sometimes as early as 18-24 months but completely supervised and with mom’s assistance. All art supplies are kept up out of reach and can only be used when mom approves until age 3 or older.

Tips for Making Water Coloring LESS Messy

How do we manage to allow our preschool to water color and keep my sanity? Well that’s exactly what I will share with you today! Here are my 5 tips for Making Water coloring LESS Messy.

Star Crepe Paper Art and Free Star Printable

July 2, 2016 By Thaleia 3 Comments

It’s 4th of July here in the USA but you can learn about the star shape all year long. Lil’ Red really enjoyed creating his star crepe paper art. I quickly gathered supplies for this project which we happened to already have around the house.

Star Crepe Paper Art

I created a printable with 9 stars on it using it as a guide for the star shapes. Then I helped to tear up the blue crepe paper streamer into smaller pieces.

Action Painting Like Jackson Polluck

May 7, 2016 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I have been meaning to do some action painting like Jackson Polluck for a few years now. I was so excited when Messy Little Monster announced her Exploring Famous Artists series. I jumped at the chance to participate sharing how we created Jackson Polluck paintings.

We watched a couple of videos and read a few books before we created our own works of art.  You can check out one of the books called called Jackson Pollock (Getting to Know the World’s Greatest Artists).

Action Painting Like Jackson Polluck

I went to JoAnn’s and bought a 5 pack of canvases. They were on sale plus I used my 15% teacher discount!  My goal is to have all four children create a piece of art work to hang behind our couch in the living room. The paint that we used was given to us from Home Depot during one of our kid workshop sessions.

Pointillism for Kids with Acrylics

August 2, 2015 By Thaleia

My kids love to use paint for all sorts of things so when I saw a chance to participate in a Paint-a-Thon blog hop I knew this would be super fun and easy to participate. We choose to do a pointillism painting with some new acrylic paints that we got for review.

Pointillism with acrylics

This was the first time Princess got to use acrylics from tubes. She was very excited to be the first one to try them since Eldest normally gets to any new paint first!

pointillism 1

I really like the colors of the acrylic paint that I got to use and they were very easy to open. We already owned a clipboard, paint brushes and the paint pallet that I got to use.

pointillism 2

My mom asked me to find 5-7 different circles from objects we had around the house. I collected a few fat markers, a drink stirrer from the dollar store (that we use in tot tray activities), a top to a water bottle, a lollipop stick from the craft store, a pen and a pencil.

pointillism 3

Since it is Summer I decided to make a quick Summer scene with flowers, the sun, and a bird in the sky. It was very fun to work outside without my brothers to create my own work of art.

Princess is very proud of her pointillism for kids with acrylics finished piece of work.
