Alphabet Sensory Ice Play

August 19, 2015 By Thaleia 10 Comments

It’s August and in Ohio that me and the weather usually becomes very hot and humid! My little boys love playing with ice cubes and popsicles. Today I am sharing some fun alphabet sensory ice play with alphabet ice cube trays that I have owned for years! I bought these when I was in college way before Eldest was even born, lol.

I grabbed a few drops of green food coloring to add to the water. I added just enough to color the water so the boys could make out the letter shapes. I did this early in the morning before they were awake so it would be a surprise.

Lil’ Red seems like he’s been getting his 2 year molars and has been asking for ice cubes to soothe his teeth. He was very excited as soon as he saw that an ice cube tray was being brought of the freezer.

Big Red loves staying cool as well and jumped right in to play with the alphabet letters.

You are very lucky with the weather. It’s August in Chicago and my feet are so cold, I’m considering pulling out winter socks. But kids don’t care, of course. They like to play with ice no matter what is the temperature! Alphabet Ice cubes sound like a recipe to a morning of fun!!

I’ve added the alphabet trays to my Amazon cart for my next order. What a great idea! We love ice painting, too. We recently bought some robot ice trays for his birthday party, and they’ve worked well for chocolate, too. 🙂

What a neat idea to help children cool down in the summer and work on letter recognition and word building. Glad to know they have the alphabet ice cube trays available at Amazon. I may have just found something to use my gift card on.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing with Littles Learning Link Up. So glad you could join in. I hope you can stop by again this week.
