Since we are studying Anatomy this year I am always on the lookout for new fun and educational additions to our game and toy collection. I have seen other homeschool mom’s share some very cool products and wanted to share some that I have found that would make great Christmas or Hanukkah gifts.
Until I began browsing Amazon I had no idea that many of these items even existed but super excited that they do! Since we have ages from 4 to 14 I will share a variety of Anatomy gift ideas for that entire age range.
Melissa & Doug make the cutest magnetic Human Body Anatomy Play Set that includes anatomically correct magnets for boys and girls and a wooden stand. I know that my 4 year old would love to sit and play with this set since he is obsessed with anything hands-on and has loved puzzles since the day we introduced him to them!
Another item that I keep seeing over and over again are various squishy body part kits like the SmartLab Toys Squishy Human Body. Your child can take a tour of the human body from the inside out and even see what happens as a bite of pizza travels through your body with the included book.
We have been enjoying watching The Magic School Bus videos on Netflix and we even own the The Magic School Bus: A Journey into the Human Body Science Kit! I had actually bought it on clearance one year when the teens were in Elementary school. It’s about time we dust it off and use it with our younger boys this year.
If your child likes to explore independently then thisOregon Scientific Smart Anatomy would be a great gift. It comes with 20 exciting activities in 5 game modes and an electronic pen. This should provide for hours educational entertainment with amazing facts about the human body.
We have loaned out TAG reader out to friends but we also have the LeapFrog LeapReader which Lil’ Red loves using by himself. Since he loves learning about the human body I think he would like this LeapFrog LeapReader Interactive Human Body Discovery Set. It is intended for ages 4-8 and teaches human body facts, body systems and health & nutrition. We will be learning nutrition in the Spring so this would make a nice addition to his Christmas list!
If your children love board games then of course there’s Operation and a newer game called Somebody Board Game. Our Operation may not even work properly it’s so old but I will need to double check that before borrowing one from friends.
The craziest thing that I discovered for learning Anatomy are see-thru models like the Gummi Bear Skeleton Anatomy Model Kit or Brick Man Funny Anatomy. Since we love LEGO so much I am super tempted to buy the Brick Man for the kids to play with and learn a little anatomy in the process!
If you have children who like miniatures then this small Human Organs TOOB might be just the thing! I know of a few bloggers who offer free printables to go along with this set. We own many TOOB’s like Jamestown, Farm Animals, Baby Farm Animals and Arctic. They are great additions to sensory bins.
Your Middle School child might be interested in less bulky items to learn from such as The Human Body 7-Chart Pack. Full color laminated charts that offer a ton of information.
High School students might like a good quality microscope slide set. We were able to get a microscope from another homeschool family and I am super excited about it! This 100 Anatomy and Botany Slide set comes in a wooden storage case and should last many years and students to come!
