Boost Your Blog Day 62- Free Photo Editing Programs

April 24, 2014 By Thaleia 4 Comments

Today is Day 2 of Photo Tips & Tricks during the Boost Your Blog Challenge. Lots of bloggers want to have great looking photos but may not want to spend top dollar on photo editing software. Well, you will not have to spend a penny on two of my favorite ways to edit photos or create great collages for blog posts.

photo day 2

These photo editing programs are called iPiccy and PicMonkey. Both have free versions that allow for a wide range of photo editing possibilities. If you aren’t familiar with either of these do not be sad. We have basic tutorials for you from our guest bloggers!

I personally use BOTH just depends on my mood and what I am trying to achieve. Each program offers similar fonts, labels, cropping, and touch-up tools. Each program offers things in a slightly different manner. Try them both and you’ll see what I mean. I tend to use iPiccy for my collages more than Picmonkey. I was using Picmonkey for my Facebook Cover Photos since they had a collage already sized for cover photos!

Ipiccy Photo Editing Tutorial

April 24, 2014 By Thaleia 5 Comments

Today you get to meet a blogger friend of mine who has been so helpful in sharing this  iPiccy photo editing tutorial for bloggers. Thank you Emma!

As a blogger, you probably already know the importance of a “pinnable” image to go with each post. (And what you don’t know this awesome series is going to teach you!) What is less obvious is how to make that eye-catching image that is going to draw more traffic to your post. If you’re anything like me, you want it to be quick, easy, free…but no less attractive than if you’d paid a professional to do it for you.

Picmonkey Photo Editing Tutorial

Hello_1.jpgI’m so happy to be sharing with you today at Something 2 Offer !

If you are a Blogger, you use photos…A LOT of photos.

Camera phones don’t quite ‘cut it’ for the kind of picture quality you want on your blog, so you probably use a digital camera. That means you also need to do a little photo editing before you upload those great photos to your blog. The program that I like to use is Picmonkey and it’s free!

Take Your Child to Work Day

April 23, 2014 By Thaleia 2 Comments

Did you know that April 24 is Take Your Child to Work Day? It actually started as Take Your Daughter to Work Day? Yep, many parents have been able to facilitate this little known holiday that involves showing their child what happens at work all day.

Just so happens that my hubby has taken his whole family to work one day! We came to work a few hours later then he arrived so he could prepare a couple projects for us to help with. This also gave him time to check email, help desk tickets, and get through an immediate requests. He works as Technology Coordinator of a small K-12 school so we went when school was out.

Our children were very excited to see “daddy’s office” in real-life and get a tour of the entire building at our leisure. The kids could play in the hallway and make almost as much noise as they wanted! We tried to keep it to a dull roar in case some teacher’s were around doing work.

On another “no-school” day, Princess accompanied her dad to work to help with a special project. The school was given some gently used laptops that needed updating so daddy set to work setting her up with a table full of laptops to update. (No worries she had done this a couple times at home and was under direct supervision!)

Princess said, “I had fun helping my dad re-set passwords on the laptops.”

Do you or your spouse work? Have you ever thought about bringing your child to work? If not, why not?
