Fun Things to do Around Dayton, OH #ad @something2offer.comGroupon

August 4, 2016 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

This is a sponsored post by Groupon. All images and opinions are mine.

Both indoors and outdoors there are plenty of family friendly fun things to do around Dayton! We live a short distance away from Dayton but frequent the Big City often whether is be for Eldest’s Type 1 Diabetes check-up at the Endocrinologists or for a field trip with some homeschool friends.

Things to do Around Dayton, OH

Some activities are for fun but also have healthy benefits like roller skating, hiking or jumping. Some activities provide a rich amount of History or Art. If you are like our family and need to find things that are both fun and inexpensive then you have come to the right place for ideas and suggestions.

Fish Themed Activities for Kids

August 3, 2016 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Are you looking for some fish themed activities for kids? Maybe you are reading some fish themed books or planning a trip to see some fish! We do not live near a beach, lake, or ocean although we do live a few blocks for a river. We do not get to interact with fish very often. We have visited the Newport Aquarium but we have not taken our children fishing since we have had four of them!

Fish Themed Activities for Kids

Does your child learn best by doing hands-on activities? Maybe your child enjoys arts and crafts. Maybe a science experiment or STEM activity is more your child’s learning style! If your child likes to learn about fish then give them some of these incredible fish themed activities to try.

Macy’s Back to School Shopping Party #MacysBTS

August 2, 2016 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of Macy’s; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Back to School time can be hectic and crazy if you have one child but with us it’s quadruple the insanity! Even though we homeschool each child may still need new clothes to begin the new school year. We try to be sure that each child has seasonal attire that fits for all the fun things we do as a homeschool family. We enjoy educational activities both indoors and outdoors so we need to be sure that we have clothes that fit for all types of weather. I have been known to take our children hiking while it’s snowing or fossil collecting in the heat of Summer!

6 to 1 Insulin Ratio, Puberty and Type 1 Diabetes

August 2, 2016 By Thaleia 2 Comments

6 to 1 for dinner. 6 to 1 for bedtime snack. It’s heart wrenching to hear this as a mom. If you aren’t familiar with Type 1 Diabetes it means nothing. If you do know anything about the battle of hormones, puberty, the teen years and Type 1 Diabetes you can mourn with me.
Now almost every carb consumed has a consequence. Every 6 carbs equals 1 unit of insulin. It now means even a bowl of popcorn has to be dosed for. It means 1/4 cup of corn needs 1 unit of insulin. It means that 1 cup of macaroni and cheese is now 7 units of insulin. It’s a little mind boggling and numbing at the same time.
