Did you know that many students head off to school each Fall without the basic supplies that are needed for a successful school year? Many needed supplies like pencils, crayons, paper, pens, erasers, and glue can quickly add up for families with limited budgets. Thanks to many different programs across the world children are able to attend school with the needed back to school supplies.
This is our 2nd year to participate in the blogger #givingbackpacks program. We have been buying extra school supplies for local families for many years before that. I always keep an eye on the sales ads and buy the cheapest week of the Summer in order to stock up for my family. We also buy extras to give away each year.
I choose a high school student to fill a back pack for this year. I know of a family that has two in high school so it was very easy for me to gather some supplies that I remembered needing at that age. For some weird reason the local high school’s do not give back to school supply lists until the first week of school. I choose some 3 -ring binders, graph paper, filler paper, composition notebooks, mechanical pencils, lead refill, pens, highlighters, and some spiral notebooks to give them a good start. They were very excited to receive the back pack and extra bag of goodies!

I did this one year and really enjoyed being a part of it and would have enjoyed doing it again as I know quite a few parents who need help. So even though I didn’t get to do this with the Bloggers this year my family may do it on our own.
