Captive Dvd

January 21, 2016 By Thaleia 7 Comments

Educational Games for 2-8 Year Olds

As a mom of four I do not make it out to the theater to watch many movies. When I do hear about a really good movie it’s usually too late for the main venues. Occasionally I can catch it at the dollar theater.  I am just as happy to stay home and watch a REALLY good movie from the comfort of my livingroom!

Since we do have younger children we had to wait till they were visiting grandma in order to preview this movie. This movie is rated PG-13 and we take ratings very seriously at our house. Eldest will be 13 soon and Princess turns 12 this year but we feel that as parents we should preview movies and video games for their content first!

Captive Movie

Since I ran out of time to watch this dvd I let Riley watch it when everyone was asleep. So here’s his impression of Captive (affiliate link):

“I was really skeptical going into it even though it was put out by Paramount. The first thing I noticed was the high quality of the film versus the usually college dorm produced inspirational films that I have seen in the past. My attention was grabbed at the beginning and the movie was full of action and drama that lasted the entire time. It had a fantastic story that was told in a really fantastic way. I was surprised to see an actress that I recognized. Both main characters turned out an amazing performance. The story line and acting was totally believable.”

About the movie:

Based on a miraculous story about the power of faith, Captive is an “amazing, inspiring” drama about the spiritual collision of two lost souls, Brian Nichols (Golden Globe Nominee David Oyelowo), on the run from police and desperate to make contact with his newborn son, takes recently widowed mother Ashley Smith (Kata Mara) hostage in her own apartment.  Fearing for her life and desperately hoping to see her daughter again, she turns to Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life for guidance.  Ashley and her captor face a crossroads where they discover hope and light in the midst of despair in the moving film that Dick Rolfe, CEO, Dove Foundation hailed as “powerful.”

I’d not heard of this film before this giveaway. However, everybody seems to be giving it good reviews. I’m not sure if I’d keep it or donate it to the school library. Either way, thanks for hosting it!!

This sounds like a good inspirational movie. I remember when this happened and it was on the news. The fact that it’s based upon a true story makes the movie more compelling.
