This week we are featuring BOOKS! Oh, how I love books. I love paperbacks, hardcovers, and ebooks. My hubby and older children love comics and graphic novels. I prefer inspirational romance, blogging how-to’s, or cookbooks. We spend most of our Summer scouring garage sales for new books in perfect condition at a fraction of the price. We can get into trouble big time at those sales where books are .10 or .25 each.

Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop #10

Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog HopWe are thrilled to announce that we have the pleasure of introducing you to two new co-hosts to our little old blog hop. Please help us give a warm welcome to Ironic Adventures and Me and Marie Learning. As as group we are looking forward to hosting this family friendly blog hop each week and seeing what everyone has been up to lately!

We have had a very traumatic week this week. With Halloween on Thursday night, Princess’ ballet was rescheduled for Monday night. She also had cheer practice on Tuesday and Halloween Parade on Wednesday. So three nights of the week were already booked and a little crazy before the week began.

All day Monday our dog, Jazz just was not doing very well. He could barely stand and walk. We kept him outside all day so he could potty when needed without having an accidents in the house. He did not eat all day not even a treat. We scheduled the vets appointment with heavy hearts knowing what must be done. We had a good 12 1/2 years with our very loving and loyal dog. We got to bury him at my parents house out in the country so the kids could visit every time they went to grandma’s house. Yesterday was the first time Princess and Lil’ Red went to the site. Please keep our children in your prayers as they miss their beloved dog.

Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop #9

Thoughtful Spot Weekly Blog Hop

Loyal readers and friends! I have been given the opportunity to bring  you a wonderful weekly blog hop that I feel would be of great benefit to us all. Hope you join us in the fun each week and visit as many posts as you can during the week!

Much cooler weather this week which has brought on sore throats and runny noses. We also saw a dusting of snow which is pretty early for our neck of the woods. Baby C-4 got his 2 month check up and Lil’ Red went to the dentist for the first time. Both made it through their appointments like champs!

Heaven is for Real for Kids Review & Giveaway

Heaven is for Real for Kids Review & Giveaway

I have had this book for months as part of the Tommy Nelson Mommy program. I have really had a hard time bringing myself to open the book. Yes, I know it sounds very silly for a grown woman, wife, and mother of four to be scared of a book! I believe in Jesus and heaven, but I guess sometimes I try to put the whole idea of death out of my head. Again I know it’s silly not to embrace the wonder and splendor or heaven, but as a realist I do not like to think of the unknown. I have so many questions related to death and heaven. I’m a planner and goal-setter and the unknown can just make me a bit crazy and uneasy. I am very thankful God answer’s prayer and I can rely on his grace and strength.

Heaven is for Real for kids

TODAY I finally brought myself to open the book and read it. I feel so much more at peace. I think I would be able to use this book as a tool to share Jesus and heaven with my two youngest sons. I can feel the tenderness and attention to detail that the Burpo family took in depicting Colton’s trip to heaven. Surprising that the images are similar to what I have envisioned in the past. I am very thankful to have Heaven is for Real for Kids as a resource to share when talking about heaven with adults or children.

Heaven is for real, and you are going to like it!

Colton Burpo came back from his trip to heaven with a very important message: Jesus really, really loves children. In an effort to reach even more families with this eternally significant story, this runaway bestseller is now told from Colton—kid to kids! Children will receive the same comfort and assurance that so many adults have received from the trade book.

Beautifully illustrated under Colton’s direction, he shares his experiences in first person and comments on things that will be important to kids. A letter to parents is included to guide them as they talk to their children about heaven. Scripture along with a Q&A section with answers from the Bible are also included in the book.

I plan to use the free coloring sheets that go along with this book and possibly look into the Sunday School Curriculum for a future year of homeschool Bible.
