Type 1 Diabetes Facebook Support Groups

August 25, 2016 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I loathe Facebook even though I use it daily for work and support. Did you know that there are a handful of Type 1 Diabetes support groups on Facebook? I am sharing all of the national ones that I have found. I skipped sharing local ones as those will not apply to everyone. Type 1 Diabetes is such a difficult thing to manage and being able to vent or ask questions and get answers right away is phenomenal. I do not take medical advice but ideas to help assist in the day to day management of Eldest’s Type 1 Diabetes!

Type 1 Diabetes Supply Bags under $20 for Back to School

August 23, 2016 By Thaleia 5 Comments

Every kid needs a great backpack for school and Type 1 Diabetes kids need cool options to carry supplies! Parents want a good sturdy bag that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. This collection of bags have been recommended by many Type 1 families and we have even bought a few for our children. I am recommending them since they are under $20!

Whether your Type 1 Diabetic is a boy or a girl I am sure that you will be able to find a suitable bag to help them carry their supplies during school. Many of these bags have lots of extra pockets which make carrying supplies more organized and accessible. We are able to fit blood glucose meter, insulin pen, glucagon pen, extra Dexcom Sensor and some snacks for lows like juicebox, pb crackers, etc.

Awesome SLING BAGS for Under$20! Great for hiking, biking, park trips, and medical supplies! #T1D #SpringBreak @something2offer.comBeyondType1

Type 1 Diabetes and 504 Plan

August 13, 2016 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Does your child have a 504 Plan? I read everyday on Type 1 Diabetes Facebook Support Groups how parents do not have one in place and all the heartache and troubles that are caused by uneducated school staff. Many parents who do have a 504 Plan in place offer the best advice. Their advice is to have a 504 Plan in place BEFORE you have trouble with your child’s school whether it be a teacher, staff, or student.

Safety Tips for Pokemon Go

August 5, 2016 By Thaleia 1 Comment

By now I am sure that you have heard about Pokemon Go unless you have been off all WiFi living on a deserted island as a hermit, lol. I was not very excited about this new app and “addiction” when I first heard about it. Like all new things moderation and safety are key! I want to take some time to talk to you about some safety tips for Pokemon Go that a friend of mine, Dannah, wrote about to let other parents and players be aware of. You see Dannah allows her son who is 7 years old the opportunity to play with close parental supervision. She is also a computer nerd and plays herself, lol.

Safety Tips for Pokemon GO!

I personally have not downloaded Pokemon Go to my phone because I do not have the space with all the apps that I use on a daily basis for work. I am familiar with the creators of the game, Niantic Inc.,since they also created the Field Trip app which I do have on my phone and love because of the rich History that it provides.
