6 to 1 Insulin Ratio, Puberty and Type 1 Diabetes

August 2, 2016 By Thaleia 2 Comments

6 to 1 for dinner. 6 to 1 for bedtime snack. It’s heart wrenching to hear this as a mom. If you aren’t familiar with Type 1 Diabetes it means nothing. If you do know anything about the battle of hormones, puberty, the teen years and Type 1 Diabetes you can mourn with me.
Now almost every carb consumed has a consequence. Every 6 carbs equals 1 unit of insulin. It now means even a bowl of popcorn has to be dosed for. It means 1/4 cup of corn needs 1 unit of insulin. It means that 1 cup of macaroni and cheese is now 7 units of insulin. It’s a little mind boggling and numbing at the same time.

Type 1 Diabetes and the Bakken Invitation

February 27, 2016 By Thaleia 60 Comments

My son, Eldest, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on 12/13/14! We were in total shock and disbelief from this life altering news. We spent 4 long educationally intensive days in the PICU to learn how to care for him. Now after living with this disease for over a year I am thrilled to share with you how one company has created a way to help others.

Type 1 Diabetes and Bakken Invitation Honorees

Medtronic Philanthropy created the Bakken Invitation program to connect and celebrate people who, with the help of medical technology, have overcome health challenges and now selflessly give back to their communities. This program is not limited to diabetes but to anyone who has had a health issue which has made them realize how short life can be but how rewarding life is when you “LIVE ON. GIVE ON.”

Reasons Why You Should Own a Diffuser

December 16, 2015 By Thaleia 11 Comments

I was on the fence for a long while about buying a diffuser. I knew that I wanted to try one but I hated to spend $40-$80 on Amazon to get one. I also didn’t want to buy a junkie one that would wind up broken in a few days. When I was given the opportunity to review one for a discounted price I was super excited!

Reasons Why You Should Own A Diffuser- Something 2 Offer

Today I want to share with you some reasons why you should own a diffuser. I am sure there are more reasons than I am listing but these are the reasons that I use a diffuser with my family. I have children but do not have pets. If you have pets then you would need to research how essential oils and smells may interact with their immune systems and neurological systems by contacting a veterinarian or herbalist.

Cutting Expenses Without Giving Up Your Cell Phone

October 21, 2015 By Thaleia 6 Comments

I woke up to a $ sign in the status bar of my cell phone. Guess what that means? My cellphone bill was processed overnight AND I was refunded for the data I didn’t use last month! My hubby and I have been with Republic Wireless for over two years and we love the lower bills while still having a smartphone!

Cutting Expenses Without Giving Up Your Cell PhoneDitch that pricey iPhone. You do not need it seriously. It’s a total waste of money to buy something that will HAVE to be replaced when the battery dies off.
