It was recently brought to my attention that with each day a new blogger is born. Sometimes the new blogger has a support system and already knows the ropes so to speak. Others are going this whole blogging journey alone and need some tips, advice, and blogger resources. This is why I am creating a post about all the places I know of for those wanting to do book reviews. These are just a handful of the free resources I have found for book review bloggers.
With all the avid readers in the world it is quite the shame for an author to have a hard time getting a handful of reviewers. Some use large publishing companies while others rely on Facebook connections. There are even bloggers who blog about book reviews and help connect bloggers with new books!
If you have an established blog and you want to make money blogging be sure to sign up as an Amazon Affiliate. (I know I know lots of bad things about Amazon like after 20,000 free ebook downloads happen from your link in a single month it’s not a good thing for you, etc). Just keep an eye on things and be sure to not go over your 20K (yep, I can say I am no where near that many freebie Kindle downloads per month but hope to get there someday soon.
What do you do to become a Book Reviewer?
So you really want to review books but do not know how to get started. Simple! Just grab a book off the shelf, from the library, or free Kindle and READ! While you are reading I would suggest taking notes, writing down quotes or anything that jumps out of you. Then practice writing an honest review of 200-300 words. Next add in the basic description of the book, author, and publisher. You could then write this up on your blog as well as leave a review on Amazon, Goodreads, etc.
Make sure you spell-check and GRAMMAR check your review. Nothing like a poorly written review to turn off potential clients or programs from choosing you. As more and more people enter the blogging world the competition may become tougher.
I have found that reviewing books for me is much harder then I thought. I am an opinionated person and thought sharing my opinion would be easy. Sharing my opinion is not the problem. Having the time to read an entire book in a quick time frame can be a big challenge for moms. I now have four children that can take every moment of my day some-days. After all the baby knows how to open the bathroom door already and tries to turn the front door knob as well at 13 months. Heaven help me!
Since I started S2O VA Services Summer 2015 I began working with author’s for Virtual Launch’s. Now Book Reviewers can join our Exclusive List to review the next OFF the Press Book! I work with family-friendly and Christian author’s just so you know!
