Today we went to Kiwanis Park and had food from the Salvation Army traveling food truck. This park has a nice variety of play equipment for children over 5 years old or younger children with big siblings willing to help them play. Some of the structures requires longer legs than a preschooler might have unless they are very energetic and strong!
There were two slides and a tunnel that the children played on as well as a swinging thing and monkey bars. There is also a set of three twirling steering wheels and a flippy bar.
Kiwanis Park includes a large metal dome climber that the children can climb on or hang from.
This park includes a nice swing set which includes swings for both babies and toddlers as well as bigger kids who know how to swing.
There’s a nice grassy area at Kiwanis Park which would be great for tag, flag football, soccer, or kickball. We usually don’t stay too long in the hot Summer months to enjoy these types of activities but Fall would be a great time to come back and give these a try.
This park includes a bell with benches and a paved circular path which I am not sure of the significance but it’s a nice area to sit on cooler days. Since there’s some paved areas you could jump rope, scooter, or play jacks if you brought a set.
We sat down at the shelter house to eat out lunch that we picked up from the Salvation Army Lunch Truck. Since drinks are not provided we bring our own which usually are cold bottle of water in cooler jugs.
Then the children went back to playing on the playground equipment. Some of the boys who love the American Ninja Warrior show LOVE Kiwanis Park! “I like to pretend that I am in American Ninja Warrior while playing at this park!”
Last Summer when Pokemon Go was the big thing this park was a hit for the kids with smartphones who were playing that game since there’s a gym and pokeballs at Kiwanis Park.
