Learning about Blood Pressure with a Sphygmomanometer

January 28, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Ever since Eldest was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes we have been on a health and fitness kick. There are so many questions and things to learn. So many things to keep in mind long-term. Blood pressure isn’t often a concern in children but more so as an adult. Since the general population is aging and hence our relatives, I thought a blood pressure cuff would be good to have.

Blood Pressure cuff review

We received an adult sized aneroid Sphygmomanometer from Santa Medical for review. This pairs perfectly with our stethoscope in learning all about heart rate. We explored heart rate using the digital monitor last month on our H is for Heart Rate post. I first noticed the fabric bag that the blood pressure cuff was enclosed in. The stitching seems to be sturdy and the zipper works well. This is a very good size to throw into a travel bag or BOB for emergencies and travel.

Specifics about Santa Medical’s Sphygmomanometer:

Pocket style Adult aneroid Sphygmomanometer with black cu and matching storage case. Manometer exceeds industry standards for accuracy. Nylon cuff helps prevent miscuffing. Special Aluminium alloy manometer, Classic nylon cuff, 2-tube adult size PVC bladder, Standard PVC bulb, Large Air-release valve with spring,Taper end valve, Vinyl zipper bag.

I believe anyone with any basic first aid or medical training should have a blood pressure cuff for home use. I would recommend anyone who is a trained medical professional or nursing student to consider purchasing a blood pressure cuff for use at home or in a crisis situation. Those that are trained and know how to use a Sphygmomanometer should own one.

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I have used affiliate links to provide a quick reference to specific products which does support our site.
