How My Family Uses a Steam Cleaner

January 9, 2016 By Thaleia 15 Comments

Shop now at Columbia.com!

I was given a discount on the Comforday Steam Cleaner in exchange for my honest review. A review post was not required and all opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this post.

I will be the first to admit that I hate cleaning! I don’t like a dirty or messy house either so I often feel at a crossroads. How do I overcome this? I delegate chores to my children, take turns cooking with my husband and  find fun ways to clean like using a steam cleaner.

Great Ways to Use a Steam Cleaner

I remember all the commercials for those high-end steam cleaners that promised all sorts of cleaning miracles. I am sure you are curious as to what a handheld steam cleaner can do to make your home sparkle. I am going to share with you how my family uses a steam cleaner to give you some ideas.

Great Ways to Use a Steam Cleaner! Read how our family uses one!

Super Clean the Stove Top

Steam Cleaner Stove

I decided to not clean the stove burner area for a while to give our little steam cleaner a run for it’s money! I set to task by wiping up the dried food crumbs and then started to steam away the visible dirt. Next I started to steam around the gas burner area and more crud came loose then I thought was even there! YUCK!

Steam Cleaner Stove Back

We didn’t even think about how gross the back wall area of the stove might be until we steam cleaned it! UGH. It was not quite as gross but still streamed down with gunk. So glad that I own a steam cleaner and can now super clean it!

Oven Door, Bottom, and Walls

How many times have you had things spill over in your oven? Even though I don’t bake pies it seems like every time we bake a pizza some cheese falls into the bottom and burns. Sometimes this causes the smoke detector to go off! I don’t have a self-cleaning over or an exhausts hood so I didn’t want to use chemicals to clean it. I had tried soaking a rag with baking soda but some of the gunk just wouldn’t budge!

I set the steam cleaner to task to clean the side walls, door, and bottom of the oven. I needed to use more than one tank of water but it really did the job without all the stress of scrubbing or stink of chemicals.

Degunk the Kitchen Floor

Since we haven’t had a dog in over 2 years it’s very hard for me to want to mop the kitchen floor very often. It’s also much harder to keep the crumbs up and thus have to sweep much more often since we don’t have a furry friend to clean the crumbs up. So there has been a few tiny spills that were neglected and got yucky. If I were to mop over that spot I would have to really get my back and arm muscles into it or use nasty chemicals! NO WAY. Now I can just hold the steam cleaner wand with the fabric pad over the spot and it’s up in as little as 10 seconds WITHOUT breaking my back or getting on my hands and knees and scrubbing! Hallelujah!

Detangle Your Dolls Hair

Steam Cleaner Doll Hair

Yes, you read that right! I’m sure if you have a daughter, niece, or granddaughter then you have seen the matted mess that a doll’s hair can become! My daughter was super big into American Girl sized dolls and we found a knock off version at the craft store! These dolls were 1/5 th of the AG price BEFORE I used a coupon! Flash forward a few years and a dozen hair styles and multiple trips to grandma’s house later. The poor dolls hair has become a matted mess!

The steam cleaner that we got at a discount for review on Amazon is the Handheld Multi-purpose Pressurized Steam Cleaner from Comforday. It’s a pretty powerful steam cleaner that is capable of handling  jobs in the bathroom, kitchen, shop or anywhere else grease, grime, dirt and mold accumulate. We still have lots of things to try to clean with our steam cleaner. I was thinking of steam cleaning our toothbrushes to help cut down on germs after someone is sick. Much cheaper then buying a new one for 6 people since they are usually $2-$4 a piece!

Here’s what Comrfoday has to say:

It’s great at lifting and removing stains from carpets, draperies or bed spreads. You can even clean your mattress to prevent or kill bed bugs. It also has powerful window cleaning action. The multi-purpose unit comes with nine accessories that make it versatile at handling different tasks, including steaming wrinkles out of your clothes. Light weight and easy to use, the  Handheld Multi-purpose Pressurized Steam Cleaner from Comfordayis a chemical-free way to keep your home healthy and clean.

Do you own a steam cleaner? What do you use it for? If I don’t post for awhile then I might be busy steam cleaning something!

Fostering Independence and Responsibility

October 13, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I have to smile a sly little smile when one of our very independent children get into something or help themselves. I also have to grimace a wee bit when my husband points out how overly independent they are which sometimes makes a mess. Fostering independence in my children comes very naturally to me. Maybe it’s because I was an oldest and was given quite a bit of responsibility at a young age.

Exercise Armbands Makes Chores Fun

December 24, 2014 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Educational Games for 2-8 Year Olds

Let’s talk about smartphones and exercise armbands. Don’t get me wrong but I am NOT a big exercise person. Yes, I do want to be more healthy and fit but do not like to pound the pavement in order to do so. With that being said you might find it odd that I agreed to review the MuvUSA Armband but bare with me. I had some reasons I jumped at getting my hands on this awesome product.

muv ProBand phone armband

Armbands that hold your cellphone are great for chore time. You will not accidentally splash dish water on it while washing dishes. You will not run it over with a vacuum and it won’t fall into the tub or toilet during bathroom cleaning time. You will be able to listen to your favorite audiobooks or Classic Literature while you go about your day!

armband Christmas stories

The MuvUSA iPhone 6 armband (4.7 inch) is designed to perform and last. The following features are quite appealing to those who exercise frequently or just want to use around the house to make boring everyday task more fun! The premium red stitching puts this armband in the best class of quality, durability and style.  The superior velcro will remain intact and will ensure that the band does not slip off your arm, even in the most intense workouts.  All of the openings are also reinforced and hence tear-resistant.

The ultra soft neoprene ensures full comfort and no damage to your skin.  It protects your iPhone from damage and is usable in any condition because it is waterproof and sweat resistant. The touch screen protector is slim and highly sensitive, so you can use your touch screen with no hassle.  The high-visibility reflector allows you to run or exercise outdoors at any time during the day or night.  The key holder and the headphone jack opening at the back provide great convenience.

My top reason for wanting an armband is that smartphones are expensive and I want to protect mine while I am doing chores around the house. I saw the horrible damage that could happen if you sit on your phone while in your pocket! My sister-in-law accidentally sat on hers and the screen is a wreck. I am so happy I have a safe and convenient way to carry my phone while zipping about the house.
Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Hope you stop by while we blog about all of our upcoming adventures as homeschooling, review bloggers. Keep an eye out for guest posts by Eldest and Princess coming up soon:)

The Things We Do For Love…

October 1, 2012 By Thaleia 6 Comments

The Things I Do For Love!

It is pouring down rain right now. It has been rainy for the last couple hours. It is TRASH NIGHT! Of course the trash wasn’t taken out before hubby went to class or before Eldest went to grandma’s. Hubby’s class ran 20 minutes late so he barely had time to get a quick snack before he had to rush off to a midnight launch!

I know he was dreading taking the trash out. Hoping Praying that the rain would stop by the time he would get home.

HE WON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT!!

I went ahead and geared up and took the trash out. I own knee-high water boots and a rain jacket thick enough for the chill in the air. He doesn’t have boots or more than a flimsy rain jacket more for emergencies than function.

So will Princess and Lil’ Red both asleep in bed. I snuck outside and lugged the recyclables and the trash can on wheels!

Yes, I should have at least taken some sort of picture of the deluge. The trash cans. Or maybe my boots, but just wanted to get it done and come inside. Change into dry jammies and CHILL. Right after I type this blog post of course:)

UPDATE:Okay, okay. I just cannot leave a post without a pic. IF I CAN HELP IT! I added the pic late last night and then re-edited it to make it pinnable this am:)
