My younger boys love learning about the sky and space so much that I wanted to create a list of books. This list includes both picture books and field guides that are a nice list of sky and space books for kids.

Countdown to Christmas with Books

December 4, 2016 By Thaleia 1 Comment

For the last several years I have wanted to countdown to Christmas with books and each year I think of it many months ahead. Then bam December 5th and then soon Christmas Day is upon us. Life is so busy no matter what time or year or how many children you have. Won’t you take some time this year to spend reading a book each day as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Children’s Books About Christmas Songs

November 14, 2016 By Thaleia 2 Comments

Growing up I remember hearing and sing a lot of Christmas Carols and silly Christmas songs some of which my children do not know. One of the ways I share new things with our children is through a good book. While my children do not always remember the exact words to songs I figured sharing a book with a Christmas song as the main story would help them remember. Can you really remember all the words to “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” for example? I know I certainly cannot. I also forget many of the verses of more common Christmas Songs since we only sing them for one month a year.

B4FIAR Book Alternatives: Jesse Bear, What Will You Wear?

June 15, 2016 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I am a very frugal person, mom, and homeschool parent so I thought I would share some book alternatives for  Jesse Bear, What Will You Wear?  that I discovered that I own. You see Before Five in a Row and Five in a Row is a great curriculum but buying the story books can get very expensive very quickly. Yes, you can purchase the entire books sets on various websites but when you have a tiny budget that might not be the wisest choice for your family. Or if you own a few from each volume like we do then just piecing the book collection together might be cheaper. I scour Goodwill, garage sales, and homeschool used curriculum sales but SHOP your OWN book collection as well!
