Children’s Books About Christmas Songs

Growing up I remember hearing and sing a lot of Christmas Carols and silly Christmas songs some of which my children do not know. One of the ways I share new things with our children is through a good book. While my children do not always remember the exact words to songs I figured sharing a book with a Christmas song as the main story would help them remember. Can you really remember all the words to “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” for example? I know I certainly cannot. I also forget many of the verses of more common Christmas Songs since we only sing them for one month a year.

What are your fave Christmas Carols and silly #Christmas songs? How about reading them?

This year I want to teach my children a few more songs so that we might even feel like going caroling with our homeschool group or singing at Christmas on the Greene coming up in a few weeks! These simple children’s books should help us achieve that goal!

Christmas Songs: 10-Button Sound Book These classic Christmas carols and festive illustrations are sure to fill your home with holiday cheer! The board pages have the lyrics, and the buttons play the tunes. There’s an icon on each page that corresponds to the correct audio button, so little ones can practice matching and fine motor skills.

The 12 Days of Christmas: The Story Behind a Favorite Christmas Song Discover the Christian symbolism in the classic Christmas carol, “The 12 Days of Christmas.” Explore this beautifully illustrated classic carol and the meaning behind the twelve days between Christmas and Epiphany (January 6th).

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Sing-Along Christmas Songs is a Play-a-Song book that enables children to sing along to 10 popular Christmas tunes and enjoy characters from the holiday classic movie Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Designed for children ages 3 years and older, the Christmas songbook has five sound buttons, each of which plays two melodies.

Where Did They Hide My Presents?: Silly Dilly Christmas Songs While everyone else is singing “Frosty the Snowman” and “Winter Wonderland,” ring in your holidays with “Our Friendly Mailman” and “Something in My Brother’s Underpants”! Songwriter and comedy writer par excellence Alan Katz roasts old Christmas chestnuts and turns them into sparkling new holiday hits that everyone will love.

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas Christmas is coming, and one little girl wants nothing more than a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy. But will Santa Claus and her parents make her Christmas wish come true? As shown in his best-selling titles The Night Before Christmas and Here Comes Santa Claus, no one can portray the holidays better than Bruce Whatley; and he does it again with I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas.

A Charlie Brown Christmas Play-a-Song Book Peanuts: Play-a-Sound  enables children to sing along to 10 popular Christmas tunes and enjoy characters from the beloved Peanuts comic strip, including Charlie Brown, Lucy, Snoopy, and Linus. The Christmas songbook has five sound buttons, each of which plays two melodies. Kids press the sound buttons and sing along to the lyrics printed on the book’s pages.

Frosty the Snowman When Frosty the Snowman was introduced in 1950 in a recording by Gene Autry, it became an instant hit. Since then, its popularity has increased every year, making Frosty one of the most recognized and beloved characters ever created. This updated edition recounts the beloved tale of Frosty — how he was brought to life one magical day and the adventures he had with the children of the town. Based on the iconic TV special, this delightfully illustrated board book will practically leap off of the shelves. Ages 2-5.

Donkeys Christmas Song A warm, broadly appealing celebration of the first Christmas, in which a donkey and other favorite animals welcome a very special baby.

The Twelve Days of Christmas A centuries-old favorite holiday carol, “The Twelve Days of Christmas” was one of the first to celebrate the secular tradition of gift-giving. This sumptuously illustrated version features not only the gifts of a suitor to his true love but a loving family’s Christmas preparations, how to say “Merry Christmas” in 12 different language, and a vast array of charming woodland animals.
