Parts of a Flower Free Resources

May 12, 2016 By Thaleia 3 Comments

May’s Kindergarten Blog Hop is here! This month our theme is Flowers. It’s been a crazy couple of weeks at our house so I decided to throw together a post for free resources for parts of the flower. You can use these free resources for any age preschool to older elementary. If your child is flower crazy like mine then you will want to make your own DIY Flower Press!

Parts of a Flower book

I printed off a 3 page worksheet that turns into a book about the parts of a flower for Big Red to color, read, and cut out. I found this free printable book from Worksheet place.

Impromptu Science: Going on a Bug Hunt

May 28, 2015 By Thaleia

One morning my little boys were getting a little stir crazy and so was mommy. I decided to take them outside to hunt for bugs. We had recently bought new magnifying glasses from Dollar General and had bug barns that we made at Home Depot. They both thought this was a wonderful idea. They both hurried to get their socks and shoes and jackets on. No fussing and fighting just plain fun.

H is for Heart Rate STEM Activity

Today I am going to share some simple ideas about exploring heart rate with your children. This is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) post and is a part of STEM A-Z series organized by Sarah from Little Bins for Little Hands.

H is for Heart Rate

Why not explore something that you have right on your person, right? Well, you have to have a heart beat to stay alive. Your heart beat can tell you many things and this is what makes exploring heart rate and pulse a great activity. My husband has owned a stethoscope for some time and the kids are never allowed to play with it. Yes, we own those kiddie plastic ones but it is so much more fun to play with the real thing!

Impromptu Science: Entomology

August 25, 2014 By Thaleia 3 Comments

Sometimes a good Science lesson just seems to fall into your lap or neighbor’s yard. I hear mom’s complain about the mess of Science experiments. I know some are worried if they are studying enough or the right stuff. Well, today we got to view two very special species of insects: cicada and praying mantis.

Free Resources for Rocks & Minerals

40 + Resources for Rocks and Minerals

My daughter has been interested in studying rocks off and on for over 3 years! I’ve looked into Rock Collection Kits, Rock Collector’s Backpack, and tons of other resources that cost BIG BUCKS. We homeschool on an almost zero budget so those items are way out of the question. Disclosure: I have used affiliate links which add no cost to you but help support our blog and our homeschool.
