Vegetable Gardens and Seed Exploration #NatureBookClub #NatureStudy

June 20, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

This month’s Nature Book Club theme is gardening and gardens. I am not sure about you but here in the Midwest it’s been hard to get our garden started with all the rain. We have had to start seeds a few times.

How a Seed Grows

Since we are diving into Botany this Summer I thought it would be good for the little boys to learn all about seeds and do some seed exploration. We own the book, How a Seed Grows, which delves into what seeds look like as well as how to grow vegetable gardens.

A Typical Day in our Charlotte Mason Homeschool {Real Homeschooling for Real Families}

June 17, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Today’s Real Homeschooling for Real Families post is written by an anonymous homeshool mom with permission to share her thoughts on the Charlotte Mason Homeschool Method.

Real Homeschool CM typical day

Have you considered using the Charlotte Mason homeschool method or approach to your homeschool? The Charlotte Mason method is based on Charlotte’s firm belief that the child is a person and we must educate that whole person, not just his mind. So a Charlotte Mason education is three-pronged: in her words, “Education is an Atmosphere, a Discipline, a Life.” (from Simply Charlotte Mason website). You can learn more about the CM Method by visiting Ambleside Online for free resources.

Soccer Camp

June 14, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Sometime over the last year my middle son, Big Red, became interested in soccer. He attended a local homeschool gym program that offers a variety of 3 week sessions. His favorite weeks were soccer and swimming.

Soccer Camp Boy with Ball

When I got an email offering a free week of soccer camp through UsFamily Guide I jumped at the chance to enroll him. This 5 day 3 hour camp will give us both a chance to see how much he really enjoys soccer before signing up for a longer commitment this Fall. The closest location for the Challenger International Soccer camp was just over 20 minutes away and was the first week of June. Since nothing else was scheduled for our family’s calendar I signed him up.

June 10, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Today’s Real Homeschooling for Real Families post is written by Heather from Principled Academy. She is writing about the Principle Approach to homeschooling.

Real Homeschool Principle

For her first one hundred and fifty years, America’s form of Christian education is what we today call the Principle Approach®. It’s what gives us a Christian form of government in America. And it’s what produces the Christian leadership we need today to help restore and keep our Republic. So, the Principle Approach®: is it for your homeschool? This will help you decide!

Is Eclectic Homeschooling Right For My Family? {Real Homeschooling for Real Families}

June 3, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Today’s Real Homeschooling for Real Families post is written by Courtney from Homeschool Mastery Academy. She is writing about Eclectic Homeschooling and how to tell if it’s right for your family.

Real Homeschool Eclectic Right

Eclectic homeschooling is a popular method of homeschooling for many reasons. You can blend all of your favorite homeschooling methods for a custom curriculum. You never have to feel limited or constrained to just one method. That is precisely why I am such a fan of eclectic homeschooling!

What exactly is Eclectic Homeschooling?

It is whatever you want it to be. Seriously. You can pick and choose resources from any homeschool method and blend them into your homeschool. You can take different homeschool books, resources, printables, games, curriculum and make it your own. Eclectic homeschooling has all the freedom you could ask for when it comes to home educating.
