Introducing 31 Days to Great Sex! for Married Couples

November 19, 2012 By Thaleia 5 Comments

Okay, so this is a subject one might gasp at, but secretly are glad SOMEONE is going to talk about it as long as it’s not YOU, right? I have been married for 13 years to my high school sweetheart and I know each marriage is different because each couple is different, and MARRIAGE IS TOUGH! Your perspective on marriage from finances to raising children to intimacy and sex were all affected by how you were brought up and what you were exposed to as a child or teen.

Maybe it was totally taboo in your house and the birds & the bees was left up to the school to teach. Maybe your family gave out promise rings and had a special rite of passage type of activity. Maybe your family was very permissive and you aren’t sure what to think. Maybe you are wanting some peace and hope for your marriage knowing that God ordained your marriage, but it is up to the husband and wife to keep the flames alive.

Introducing Sheila Wray Gregoire

Married couples I hope you are all as excited as I am to make this wonderful discovery. I believe it was totally God that lead me to click the button on that blog hop link. I believe careful prayer and forethought on the part of Sheila and her team (if she has one and I’m sure she does!) made her website welcoming and embraced the wife within me!

I was blog hopping at the end of last week and discovered Sheila Wray Gregoire’s blog To Love, Honor, and Vacuum! The title caught my eye right away in the mass of links in one of the marriage link-ups. I contacted Sheila right away asking about a chance to review and giveaway her book. She was so gracious to offer me a spot on her book tour! I am very excited to read and put into practice what I learn. I think this is a great Christmas present to my hubby and myself. (Taking time out for marriage when you have three children, homeschool, and blog is no easy task!)

So without further ado here’s SHEILA!

Sheila Wray Gregoire is a Christian speaker, columnist, and author. She’s written five books, including The Good Girl’s Guide to Great Sex. She loves speaking about marriage, parenting, and keeping our eyes on Jesus. She lives in Ontario, Canada, with her husband of 20 years and her two daughters, whom she homeschools.

Here’s a direct quote from Sheila:

“Last year I published The Good Girl’s Guide to Great Sex, and leading up to its release I wrote the 29 Days to Great Sex in February as a blog series. That was so successful, and garnered me tens of thousands of new readers. And so I’ve finally put it in an ebook, thoroughly rewritten for couples rather than just for women.

Here’s why I’m passionate about sex (if you’re allowed to say that): God created sex to unite us on three levels–physical, spiritual, and emotional. When we feel truly intimate on those three levels, our marriages soar. And that’s when we’re able to impact our churches and communities for Him.

But if we’re not connecting in our marriages, we lose out on a great strength that God gave us in this life. And we threaten our families and our children’s future.

The church doesn’t like to talk about sex, and so we leave it to our culture. And our culture has turned it into something perverse and disgusting.

I’m not willing to stand for that anymore. I think the church needs to step up and fight back and start redeeming sex.”

I will be doing a review and giveaway Monday December 3 right here on Something 2 Offer! please join me in taking the challenge to make the next 31 Days to Great Sex a goal for your marriage.

What books have you read lately to bring your marriage
into a closer relationship in or out of the bedroom?

November Here I Come!

October 31, 2012 By Thaleia 4 Comments

November 2012: We are gonna make it!

Goodbye birthday month! Hello month of gratitude!

I will include some links to things we did to cut down on all the typing. My fingers are freezing from being online for the last 3 hours! It is all good ’cause I am prepping my new blog series {Spice Up Your Homeschool}. Trying to schedule the next month or more with one post a week. That will free me up for guest posting, conference sponsorship, and review work not to mention Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Luckily my Personal Taxation class does NOT have any final and I do all the work at home. I am trying to make sure I do not get too many bloggy irons in the fire. We are a homeschool family that is very eclectic and flexible. Kids help take pics, pose items for pics, read over blog posts, and generate ideas. We have a class Saturday about video basics from our  local metroparks. So very exciting and it’s free!

I a working on social media and somedays it just kicks my butt. The time sync just kills me, but I am trying to use Buffer to my advantage. November I need to implement Social Bro to tweet my old posts once I come up with create tweets! Growing in leaps and bounds but sometimes hard to do and not have laundry piling up, lol.

Kids are starting to take more responsibility (vacuum room, put clothes away, fold towels, start load of laundry, etc) for things that they can do to help the house run more smoothly. I want them to realize this is not a fly by night kinda thing. This “blogging” is our new way of life and with hubby starting up a website soon we really have got to get things together.

Goals: Focus on Thanksgiving and Christmas Prep

Get house ready to put up Christmas tree

Pull-out outgrown clothes, bag and donate!

Find ways to show Jesus to others.

Continue to tweak our schedule to fit it all in:)

I drink coffee and tea. Only drink Chai when someone else makes it, lol. I also love hot chocolate with extra marshmallows.

Super Weird and Lapbooking Tips

Old Blog Post I Forgot I Wrote in 2010!

I just left a comment on a blog and followed the link it created to my blogger blog from 2 1/2 yrs ago!!! I had no idea that I had even started a blog. This was weeks before Lil’ Red was born. Yikes, now I’m gonna try to get those deleted and focus on this blog:) For anyone curious as to what I wrote here’s my only entry until today that has been viewed 254 times, lol!

Quick Tips with Lapbooking

For all you newbie’s, like myself, I wanted to share a few tips I have discovered regarding lapbooking!

1. Check your printer settings. Our printer allows multiples pages to be shrunk and put into 1 page. So you can make elements a better size for your lapbook instead of having a full page document. If you find a few coloring pages and want to use them in your lapbook put 2 or 4 on a page from your print menu. You will end up with really cute elements small enough to put into minibooks. Only print the pages your really need if you downlaod a free kit. No need to print an entire 30 page lesson just to print 3 pages of lapbook elements that you want to use.

2. SAVE IT!! If you see a lapbook, links to lapbook resources, or links elements you think your child may be interested in then save it. If you research a topic or theme you want to learn about or your child might be interested in the future. SAVE IT. Things change VERY quickly online and I have been disappointed to find links that no longer work.

3. Gather Supplies. Get your basic supplies ready to go ahead of time. Make sure you have enough file folders, cardstock, colored paper, scissors, glue/tape, stickers, colored pencils/crayons, etc. You may want to keep your supplies together once you print out your lapbook elements and put them together by theme in a file folder. (Especially if you have more than one child or theme going at a time.)

4. Watch a video. There are some awesome demo’s for lapbooking. Watch these and you will understand how to fold things and put things together to create your own from scratch. Plus knowing what you are doing BEFORE engaging the kids will make your life a little easier and your lapbooking go more smoothly.

5. Swagbucks/Google search it. Do not be afraid to shamelessly search for topics or themes for your lapbook! Look for free ideas, themes, elements. Use some of the following general terms to help in searching.
lapbook basics
free lapbooks
free ____ worksheets
free minibooks
free ____ coloring pages
free printables
free Christian printbales

6. Favorite/bookmark Blogs. remember to visit homeschooling blogs. Favorite them for future reference and ideas. Usually a family that blogs about lapbooks or unit studies has links to free printables or other blogs that talk about lapbooks. These other blogs will usually provide more free lapbooking, notebooking, or printable ideas. There’s soooo much out there it’s truly incredible.

I hope this give you some of you new homeschoolers or new to lapbooking encouragement. Do not pay big bucks for a lapbook theme UNTIL you’ve exhausted all your free resources!
