2013 Cornerstone Confessions Blog and Home Planner

This is coming out way later than planned!

Being pregnant and suffering for anytime sickness has been knocking my bloggy mojo to bits! I had great plans on posting this over 3 weeks ago and then I got a little back logged with reviews and other commitments!

Kathy from Cornerstone Confessions has honored me with the privilege of reviewing her blog and home planner. I was so excited she when she granted my request AND OFFERED one lucky reader a Blog and Home Planner of their very own!

As a relatively new blogger and mother of 3, with baby #4 on the way, I need a planner! I love forms and pretty things to fill in. I also LOVE DATA, stats, and numbers. I’m a little nerdy that way. Just gotta love me for that. This planner is so awesome. It has monthly and weekly pages plus……

Book Review: Uncle Jesus by Georgia Lee Anderson

Book Review: Uncle Jesus

by Georgia Lee Anderson

DESCRIPTION:

Uncle Jesus is a heartwarming story that helps us imagine what it would have been like to be Jesus’ relative while He lived on earth. Jesus had brothers, including one named Jude, the author of the Bible book of the same name. In Uncle Jesus, Jude’s fictional son, Shem, visits Grandma Mary, the mother of Jesus, and relates some first-hand experiences he had with his Uncle Jesus when He was still on earth. An inquisitive, genuine, sweet little boy, Shem asks Grandma Mary about Jesus, about his other uncles’ view of Jesus, and about her own experiences.

REVIEW:

I will have to admit I have been dragging my feet on this review. I really hate to give negative reviews but I also MUST give HONEST reviews to keep my integrity.

This book Uncle Jesus is intended for young children. The artwork is captivating and appears to have taken the artist a long time. Very interesting as it looks like watercolor and oil pastel possibly mixed with chalk. The basic story was good but was far-fetched in its basic principle.  The words are written clearly but the negative is a very misleading statement about Jesus having three older brothers! This is not a typo and is re-emphasized that Mary had sons and was not married. I cannot recommend a book that twists biblical history even at a child’s level. Jesus was born to Mary of a virgin birth.

I would have to say that I was very disappointed in the fact that the basic story of Jesus was twisted and so misleading. I would advise parents and church leaders to steer clear of this book!

UGLee Ergonomic Pen Review and Giveaway

UGLee Ergonomic Pen Review and Giveaway

UGLee ergonomic pen review and giveaway

REVIEW:

I am super excited to share with you the neatest ergonomic pen that I have come across.  It is called the UGlee pen and was created by Dr. Lee. The UGlee pen comes 3 to a pack and has a super comfy, squishy gel grip surrounding a majority of the barrel.  The pen just screams, “Write with me!” It is fun to hold and really fun to use. My husband tried it and liked it. My son tried it and liked it. I tried it and liked it. Good thing my daughter wasn’t home at the time or we would have been fighting over who got to use the UGlee pen next!

order your gel grip pen

I can see this being a very helpful tool for those families with reluctant writer’s. My son also mentioned that he really liked the fine tip and thought he would use it to illustrate his comics and drawings. What better way to encourage a young writer or artist then with the UGlee Pen….

Introducing Kidgets Diapers and Wipes from Family Dollar

Introducing Kidgets Diapers and Wipes

from Family Dollar

kidgets diapers and wipes Family Dollar

I have to be honest. I used to be a VERY brand loyal customer back when hubby had a full-time job that paid an amazing wage. Well, things have changed since the birth of our 3rd child. My husband is now a full-time student and our income is much tighter than it was before. The price of diapers keeps going up and the number of diapers per pack has shrunk for most brands.

Our third child is smaller than our other two and has very skinny legs. He fits brands totally different than our other two kids. Totally weird, right? We’ve also had the opportunity to use cloth diapers which have saved us tons of money, BUT some days you do not want to have to deal with cloth diapers. Some days you are too busy on the go to bring all the extra bulk of cloth diapers.  We also tend to use disposable diapers at night since we have had leaks in the past and no one likes to have to change a soiled bed in the middle of the night. So if you are an active family like us and turn to disposable diapers on occasion, then why not try Kidgets brand from Family Dollar?

Family Dollar Kidget Diapers

We were given the opportunity to try Kidget diapers and wipes, which are found only at Family Dollar. A very exciting opportunity since I had never tried Kidget diapers before. Oh, how I love the smell of the wipes. This is super important as I am currently pregnant and the slightest smell makes me feel ill. The scent of the wipes covers the stinky pee and poo smell which this mom likes very much! The thickness of the wipes is very good and not too flimsy or overly thick and wasteful.

The diapers seem to fit well, but may be slightly bigger than brand name diapers. This would be a plus since buying a smaller sized diaper means more diapers to a pack thus saving more money. My son did not leak out of them or break-out which is also very important (he’s a fair skinned red head).  The tabs seem to hold up very well and I had no problems with them ripping or tearing.  (I have had this with some name brand diapers and  wasted a ton of money). They were a little difficult for my son to get off which is definitely a good thing if your child tries to strip without you knowing about it.

Family Dollar’s line of Kidgets diapers is also second to none. Family Dollar realizes that you want the best for your baby. That’s why they developed Kidgets – a soft, absorbent diaper that’s also a great value. With an ultra absorbent core, strechable grip tabs, and a cloth-like outer core, they are are so sure that you’ll love the Kidgets diaper that they offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee!
