Ahh. Vacation! Doesn’t that sound like music to your ears? Yes and no for us as we have four children and two puppies to plan for. This can be so crazy and overwhelming when planning a trip even if it’s just overnight! Just the logistics alone can be daunting and then there’s the cost! Vacations can be expensive but you don’t have to break the bank if you follow these simple ways to save money on your next vacation.
Plan ahead if Possible
If you know in advance that you will be taking a vacation then research the best time of year to go to your perfect destination. You will save big bucks NOT visiting during peak season. Sometimes you may have your heart set on a location that seems to ALWAYS have peak season prices. Check out Monday to Wednesday night stays as they seem to be up to 50% cheaper without a discount. If you want to check out hotel discounts then check out Groupon Coupons.
Unexpected Last Minute Travel
Sometimes Last Minute Travel is best and can reap cheaper prices if you check out last minute hotel deals from Travelocity. Travelocity guarantees you won’t overpay for your getaway. Period. If you find a lower price anywhere, Travelocity makes it easy to get your money back. Simply make sure you’ve booked within the last 24 hours. Next, check to see if the travel dates are the same. O.k. good! Now, is the site where you found the lower price is in English? Make sure because this is a real requirement of this guarantee. Great!
Now all you have to do is make sure that the price is in U.S. dollars and that the hotel, room type, rate plan, and cancellation fee is the same. From there, it’s just as easy as downloading your itinerary and starting the process of filling out the Travelocity Price Guarantee Application! It’s just that easy!
Pack Food to Save Money
We never leave for a trip without a bag of snacks and a cooler of food. Even if you book a room with free breakfast like Drury Inn & Suites, you will still need to eat lunch and dinner. If your room doesn’t offer a full kitchen then you might need to eat out. You can check for great deals on food while visiting restaurant.com
Visit the Convention and Visitors Bureau
If you have time to stop in the local CVB then you will find all sorts of information about your vacation destination. You might even find some hidden gems that you might otherwise would have missed. Sometimes you might even be given a free ticket to an event or attraction like when we stopped in Mansfield / Richland County Convention and Visitors Bureau on our way to Punderson Manor State Park.
We have used Groupon and Groupon Coupon a few different times and have never had any problems using the vouchers or using the coupon codes online. I hope you give Groupon Coupons a try whether it be to save money on your next vacation or the next time you buy some clothes.

I love saving a bit of extra money with vouchers. I also think packing your own food is a great money-saver too. When we’re not holidaying abroad, we order our food online to be delivered to wherever we’re staying so that we don’t have to pack it all into the car, but it’s there ready for when we arrive. #brillblogposts

we are in process of planning our summer vacation and have learned to cut corners just like you. Our biggest tip is to give a big Amen to your second suggestion. We always pack food and eat out the car and always stay at a place with free breakfast. you can grab an extra banana or apple on the way out for snacks on the road too. Getting a place with a microwave is a plus too. that will let you heat up food from a grocery store and eat in the room instead of eating out every dinner and save your money for seeing and doing things that you really want to do. one more tip is to get a national park pass if you are doing a road trip. it saves money fast and lets you stop for impromptu visits when you don’t have to pay to enter.

The timing of this is fascinating. I just returned to work today and had a conversation with a colleague who told me about her airbnb home she rented in Scottsdale, and she said it was awesome! I have never heard of this before, and definitely taking advantage of it for next summer with the family. What a wonderful idea. I’m taking this as confirmation:)
