Homemade Magnetic Tangrams

June 29, 2015 By Thaleia 3 Comments

I was on a major Busy Bag kick a few years ago and made some magnetic tangrams as part of a busy bag swap. I had found magnetic felt on clearance a few years before and just bought it not knowing quite what to do with it. Once I remembered I had the magnetic felt I knew homemade magnetic  tangrams were the way to go.

Homemade Magnetic Tangrams

I first found a printable tangram pattern online and then proceeded to cut them using the pattern and my Cutterpede paper cutter. I made over 6 sets which didn’t take too long so I am confident if you are making just 1 or 2 sets you can whip them up in no time.

tangram making

Just print out your pattern for your tangram pieces and print out your challenges. I recommend laminating your challenge pieces for durability. I used my Purple Cow laminator that my mom found at JoAnn’s on clearance with laminating pouches.

My nephew came over a few weeks ago and whipped through a couple tangrams while we were out in the backyard playing. He is 11 but found them fun!

Do you have animal lovers like I do? Have you taken them to a zoo to only want more animal interactions? Then I would suggest taking them to the African Safari  Wildlife Park in Port Clinton just minutes from the Miller Ferry boatdock.

Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center

June 27, 2015 By Thaleia

Are you looking for a way to spend some time as a family? Look no further then Perry’s Cave and Family Fun Center. They have all sorts of fun things to do like: cave tour, Rock climbing, miniature golf, maze, and Butterfly House. The entire property is filled with a rich history of the island.

Perrys Cave Family Fun Center

Perry’s Cave:

The cave was very cool and wet. It was very educational, yet fun. From a kids standpoint it was really cool. The tour guide was very friendly and knew a lot about history which was interesting. The cave itself was very well lit and you were given ample notice if you were afraid of tight spaces. Some places had a low ceiling for taller adults but for kids they didn’t even need to duck.

Miller Ferry: Great Way to Put-in-Bay

June 24, 2015 By Thaleia

Whether you are visiting for a day or a week you will want to be able to bring your vehicle to Put-in-Bay. Can you imagine lugging all of your items for yourself your children and your food without having the advantage of your vehicle? I cannot fathom trying to herd my kids and keep my sanity while trying to carry all of our clothes, diabetes supplies and comfort items. That is why we chose Miller Ferry to transport us from Catawba Island to South Bass Island.

Miller Ferry Boat

This was the first time my hubby and kids got to ride a ferry. We had a great experience. No one got scared or sick. There’s a bathroom available on board which we didn’t need to use but glad one was available.
