Pinecone Exploration Nature Study #NatureBookClub {Link Up}

December 20, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Since December’s Nature Book Club theme is Evergreens I thought learning about pinecones would be fun. We do not have a specific book about pinecones but can use our Trees of North America Book or our digital version of the Handbook of Nature Study to help guide our pinecone exploration.

Pincecone Exploration Nature Study #NatureBookClub

We took quite a few walks around the neighborhood in October and November looking for nature near home. We found out that our neighborhood has a few different types of Evergreen trees which means pinecones to investigate and explore.

Christmas Book Basket

December 10, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I finally dug out and found all of our Christmas books, I think! Since Advent was in full swing before I got the Christmas books out and I wasn’t going to have time to wrap each one I decided to put them in our book basket. Our book basket has been a place for our book books and most read bedtime favorites but for the month of December it will house all of our Christmas books.

Our Christmas Book Basket

I will share multiple pictures and try to list every book that we own. I know that some are very old and were Riley’s when he was a child which might mean they are hard to find or out of print! Some of the Christmas books are newer bought as gifts or given to use for book reviews but either way we love them!

Last Minute Ways to Study Advent

December 6, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I know I know I know. Advent and Christmas come around once a year pretty much the same week and I should be ready by Thanksgiving, right? Well, I do think about different ways to celebrate Advent and think it’s too early to print off advent activity guides or research advent plans or reading guides. Now we are a few days into Advent and have not begun to start a proper Advent study in any way. Does this sound familiar to you or are you one of these super organized mom’s that have it all planned out..

If you are like me and still trying to get kids to finish up another week or so of school work before the new year then you probably do not have time to track down Advent plans so I have down the work for you. I want to do something but not quite sure what so I figured I would research a handful of ways to study Advent and share them with you.

Homeschool Mama Book Club #hsmamasbookclub

December 5, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I have been itching to read more books about homeschooling and parenting but reading a book by yourself can be boring. Many local homeschool mom’s tend to be so busy that trying to squeeze one more thing in might make them want to pull their hair out! I decided it would be best to create a homeschool mama’s book club online and invite you and any homeschool mama who wants to join us!

homeschool mama's book club Facebook Post

[Tweet “Homeschooling can be daunting! Join the #hsmamasbookclub and learn more each month about #homeschooling.”]

How the Book Club will work and How much does it cost?

Each month sometime between the 12th and 15th the book club members will vote on the next month’s book title. You see I do not want to be the one picking each month’s titles. I am going to have voting to be done by the book club members.I will create an event with a poll for voting each month which can easily be found on the Homeschool Beginners Group.

The only cost of this book club is the book itself.  I will share links to Amazon and Thriftbooks for those who need to purchase and cannot find it at their local library or through Hoopla or Overdrive. (If you want to learn more about borrowing books from multiple libraries then check out my post Why I have Multiple Library Cards.)
