FaithLeaps: The Christian Mom’s Guide to Starting a Virtual Assistant Business

October 7, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

This post is a conversation on behalf of Alyssa Avant Christian author and business woman. I received a free copy of this book for review but all opinions are my own.

I am a work at home mom of  four kids kinda by accident. Just over three years ago I decided I needed to start a blog to share all the frugal ideas and free resources that I had been sharing on yahoo groups and various message boards. I talked with my husband and he said go for it. What do you have to lose? Neither of us knew anything about WordPress, hosting, or linky parties. I hadn’t even joined Twitter at that point. You see I am not a bandwagon kinda gal. I am the wait and see kinda gal.

Why I think Faith Leaps is worth reading

[Tweet “It truly is a Faith Leap when you start a new endeavor or when you follow your calling in life no matter what the age.”]

Flash forward to Fall 2015 and hubby announces he is resigning from him job cause he needs to take a break and get healthy. At this point I had planned on trying to bring him home from his full-time job by Summer 2016 when his contract was up for renewal or maybe even Christmas 2015 but not SEPTEMBER!! I was excited and panicked at the same time. I was already making some money via social media shares, linky party service, and sponsored posts but NOT full-time. I realized I needed to up my game to pay the bills. I was just able to transfer enough from my Paypal account to cover the cost of utilities-PRAISE THE LORD!

September 29, 2015 By Thaleia 12 Comments

To most people a juice box is a treat for the lunch box or packed as a team snack for the big game. For my family having a juice box on hand at all times is imperative. Since my son’s Type 1 Diabetes Diagnosis we have learned a lot of things which I plan to continually share. Today I want to share how a juice box saved my Type 1 Diabetic son’s life!

Eldest is 12 years old and loves playing video games, building with Lego’s, and running around at the park like any kid his age. The difference is his constant battle each and every day with Type 1 Diabetes. It’s an autoimmune disease which many people think is like Type 2 but I will tell you it’s not!

September 26, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

This post is part of a conversation on behalf of Sack Lunch for Lantern Fest Louisville/Cincinnati.

I had never heard of Lantern Fest until last week when another blogger mentioned the event and that one would be close enough for my family to attend. I check out the website and pretty excited to be able to share this event with my reader’s.

Here’s a little bit about the Lantern Fest:

At The Lantern Fest, thousands of revelers join together armed with lanterns for one unforgettable spectacle. There will be music, dancing, s’mores and, when the time is just right, we will light the sky with our highest hopes, deepest regrets, and fondest dreams.

The Louisville/Cincinnati Lantern Fest event will be held Saturday October 10 at the Kentucky Speedway the American Cancer Society being the charity of choice. Gates open at 3pm with activities for kids include: face-painting, balloon twisters, live music, princesses, marshmallow roasting for s’mores, stage show and various competitions. The lantern launch is slated for when the sky is dark enough.Lantern Fest Family Event

X Marks the Spot Pirate Map Activity

September 24, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

With Talk Like a Pirate Day happening each September 19, I thought it would be fun to have an X Marks the Spot Pirate Map Activity. Princess was more then willing to make a treasure map and dress in her pirate costume to lead Big Red and Lil’ Red all over the yard for a pirate adventure!

X Marks the Spot Pirate Map Activity

We started off with brown packaging paper that comes in our many Amazon review deliveries. Princess then took time to recreate the backyard and the house on two separate maps. She used skinny markers to draw the various landmarks of the backyard such as the picnic table, playhouse, and large maple tree.

Then she tore some of the paper into smaller pieces to create the clues. She hid the clues and marked the map accordingly. She showed such enthusiasm as she lead her brothers around the yard and helped them find the clues. She read each clue and helped them find the next clue UNTIL the treasure was found: some pieces of candy!

We also found a few books that talk about pirates that we own:
