New Tween Girls Book Series Called Glimmer Girls

March 21, 2016 By Thaleia 8 Comments

My daughter is a typical 11 1/2 year old girl who just so happens to love a great book. When she found out that we had the chance to review the first two books in the Glimmer Girls series she was very excited. I am sure that she will be telling all her friends in our various homeschool groups all about these books. I can see this series making it’s way into my nieces birthday present bags in the near future.

New Tween Girls Book Series

If you are looking for an engaging wholesome read then give Glimmer Girls by Natalie Grant a chance.

In London Art Chase, the first title in the new Faithgirlz Glimmer Girls series, readers meet 10-year-old twins Mia and Maddie and their adorable little sister, LuLu. All the girls are smart, sassy, and unique in their own way, each with a special little something that adds to great family adventures.

There is pure excitement in the family as the group heads to London for the first time to watch mom, famous singer Gloria Glimmer, perform. But on a day trip to the National Gallery, Maddie witnesses what she believes to be an art theft and takes her sisters and their beloved and wacky nanny Miss Julia, on a wild and crazy adventure as they follow the supposed thief to his lair. Will the Glimmer Girls save the day? And will Maddie find what makes her shine?

Join twins Mia and Maddie and their sidekick little sister, LuLu, as they travel the country finding adventure, mystery, and sometimes mischief along the way. Together with their famous mother, singer Gloria Glimmer, and their slightly wacky nanny Miss Twist, the sisters learn lessons about being good friends, telling the truth, and a whole lot more.

In A Dolphin Wish a three-night stop in the city of San Diego seems like it might be just the break the girls need—lovely weather and great sights to see. That is until they hear animal handlers at “Watery World” talking about the trouble they’ve been having keeping the animals in their habitats. Mia and her sisters cannot resist a challenge and they talk Miss Twist into another visit to the educational amusement park to search for clues as to what or who is helping the animals escape.

Grow Your Child’s Faith with Faith Builders Bible from Zonderkidz

February 29, 2016 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

We’ve been enjoying the Faith Builders Bible from Zonderkidz as part of our Bible curriculum which we were given for review as part of the TOS Review Crew. All four of our children LOVE playing and building with LEGO so this Bible is a great way to reinforce God’s Word via building some Bible stories or scenes. Using LEGOs and their imaginations to bring the Bible to life really reinforces the lessons in their minds.

Grow Your Child's Faith with Faith Builders Bible

My husband decided to read a part of Genesis which talks in detail about the Garden of Eden. He read about the river that runs through Eden and meets up with the surrounding rivers. After he read the passage, the kids raced into their rooms to collect the needed pieces to complete their very own Garden of Eden.

Faith Builders Bible

Eldest, Princess, and Big Red came back with a tray of LEGO pieces that were green, blue, and brown. They found pieces that could make plants and trees as well as some pieces that were golden. They quickly got to work to build as many features of the Garden of Eden that they could with the LEGO pieces that we own.

The passage we read was Genesis 2:4-14 which details some of the topography of the Garden of Eden, specifically, the river that flowed through it and branched out into other lands. The kids spent quite a while building their own Garden of Eden scenes, even working together (gasp) to extend the rivers out to some of the other lands we read about in the passage.

Here are a few of the inside builder idea pages found within the Faith Builders Bible. There are not instructions of how to put scenes together but some very detailed ideas which helps children recreate stories from the Bible. After trying to build a few of the ideas from the book it is very easy for a younger builder to branch out and build more difficult story scenes.
