Kiwanis Park (Piqua, Ohio)

June 12, 2017 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Today we went to Kiwanis Park and had food from the Salvation Army traveling food truck. This park has a nice variety of play equipment for children over 5 years old or younger children with big siblings willing to help them play. Some of the structures requires longer legs than a preschooler might have unless they are very energetic and strong!

There were two slides and a tunnel that the children played on as well as a swinging thing and monkey bars. There is also a set of three twirling steering wheels and a flippy bar.

Shoup Park (Beavercreek, Ohio)

June 5, 2017 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

One of the parks that my children love going to each Summer is Shoup Park in Beavercreek, Ohio. We usually only visit it once or twice a year due to the time it takes us to get there but the drive is so worth it. We make sure to pack our water bottles, snack bags, sun screen and wax paper.

Yes! You read that right. Wax paper is a must for the long metal slide at Shoup Park! The wax paper helps make the slide faster which means more fun for the kids.

Grab the wax paper and read while Shoup Park is so much fun! #SummerFun #BucketList

Lake Loramie State Park #30Places30Days

May 20, 2017 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Can you believe that we have lived within 25 minutes of Lake Loramie State Park beach and have never been to the beach? My husband has been to Lake Loramie State Park with an uncle to fish and never even saw the beach. We even camped at the camp ground when Big Red was 13 months old! I am so glad that the #30Places30Days local travel challenge has gotten us to explore fun things to do in and around our county!Lake Loramie State Park walking to beach

We headed off to Lake Loramie State Park to check out the beach. The weather was over 80 degrees but we weren’t sure if it would be “open” or if the beach area would be fenced off and closed. To our surprise and the children’s dismay the beach was open and not fenced and accessible year round!

Linear Park Bike Path Piqua, Ohio #30Places30Days #BikePiqua

May 5, 2017 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Our city has been developing and paving on the bike path for the last decade I believe. Honestly we have never walked or rode the entire loop but Eldest and Princess went on a short ride to Lock Nine and back. They rode together and had a cell phone in case of an emergency while on the bike path.

We do not suggestion children under the age of 12 ride without adults and definitely NOT without a buddy! Since they were familiar with the area and how to get to the bike path and back home I felt comfortable allowing them to go by themselves. I would love to ride as a family but we are still getting enough bikes in the correct sizes for everyone. Big Red and Lil’ Red do not ride without training wheels. Our goal this Summer is to help teach Big Red how to ride without training wheels so we can enjoy the bike path as a family!
