Learn How to Crochet with Free Kindle Books

April 23, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Gone are the days of sitting near the fire in a rocking chair working late into the night by candlelight! Many handicrafts have unfortunately become a lost art since older generations are not passing their skills down to younger generations. My grandmother taught me to cross-stitch and my mother taught me how to sew. I learned a tiny bit of crocheting but never how to knit. My sister crochets afghans and my mother knows how to knit.

Sometimes you seem to be too busy to learn from a family or friend so why not grab a free kindle book and learn how to crochet!

Remember you can access most Kindle books from your phone, tablet, or PC even without a -gasp- KINDLE. Make sure to download your FREE Kindle Reading App today! I started collecting Kindle books a year or so BEFORE I had a Kindle ready device which sounds crazy but I am super thankful for the 2, 00 free books I have at my disposable!

I will be adding these books to my Kindle collection for rainy days, hot Summer afternoons, and even the possibility of along weekend or road trip! Hope you grab ’em while they are free and make something that brings a smile to your face or someone you love.

Princess has been blessed with naturally curly hair that is super springy. She takes after her dad which is wonderful until it’s time for to put her hair up for ballet or she wants a change. I grew up using a curling iron but bought a very inexpensive flat iron as an adult. I rarely do much with my hair but really want my daughter to be more confident in her skills. I will be teaching her how to use a flat iron hair straightener to achieve a variety of hairstyles more easily.

We will be using a Gurin Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron to see if we can straighten Princess’ super curly hair. I started out by plugging the flat iron in and turning it on to low. While the flat iron heated up Princess brushed through her hair.

Here are our tips for using a flat iron:

Let’s Go Fly a Kite

April 17, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

When was the last time you flew a kite? Have you ever made your own kite? Do you remember the words and tune to that song from Mary Poppins? “Let’s Go Fly a Kite Up in the Atmosphere…” Now that Spring is here our weather has been great for kite flying. Our local parks department relies on this great weather for their annual Kreature Kite Fly event.

Lets go fly a Kite

My phone was almost dead and without WiFi it dies even quicker so I only took a few pictures. I will be relying on my hubby’s pics as well as a friend, Doug Fosnight, who takes the most spectacular pictures!
