Homeschooling using Librivox

March 17, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I’m not quite sure how long ago I found out about Librivox but I love free resources and audiobooks could be expensive if you had to buy them. I enjoy homeschooling using Librivox and using Librivox for personal growth. There’s two different ways that I use Librivox so I will share those with you first.

LibriVox website and App

1. Download audiobooks for old cellphone or iPod via the Librivox website. Yes, we still own old tech that doesn’t have WiFi or use apps and read more about this on our post –Digital Devices for Homeschool. Librivox online works very well with these types of devices. You go to Librivox via PC and find a couple classic Literature titles. Then you can download them chapter by chapter or zip file or via iTunes!

2. Use the free Librivox app or the paid ad-free version to listen to audiobooks on the go! No waiting for your turn like Overdrive. If you download the audiobooks to your device then you won’t use up your data when off WiFi.

Life Cycles Books for Kids #NatureBookClub #Booklist

March 5, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

At our house I am trying to instill a love for all things nature and I have found that one way to do that is to study life cycles of plants, birds, insects and animals. With cold Winter weather and some tiny snow flurries holding on there’s not too much nature to observe right now outside so we will need to rely on some good life cycles books for kids to help us learn! This month’s theme for Nature Book Club is life cycles. I hope you join us this month a we learn all about different life cycles through books, play and hands-on activities.

Groundhog Day Books for Kids #booklist #naturestudy

January 17, 2019 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Since we homeschool I honestly do not know if my kids even know about groundhog day. I mean my teens probably have heard of it but not quite sure Big Red and Little Red have heard about it. Since we do live a few blocks away from where we have often spotted a real-life groundhog I thought it would be fun to create a book list to learn more.

Christmas Book Basket

December 10, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I finally dug out and found all of our Christmas books, I think! Since Advent was in full swing before I got the Christmas books out and I wasn’t going to have time to wrap each one I decided to put them in our book basket. Our book basket has been a place for our book books and most read bedtime favorites but for the month of December it will house all of our Christmas books.

Our Christmas Book Basket

I will share multiple pictures and try to list every book that we own. I know that some are very old and were Riley’s when he was a child which might mean they are hard to find or out of print! Some of the Christmas books are newer bought as gifts or given to use for book reviews but either way we love them!
