Dr. Seuss Style Birthday Party

Dr. Seuss Birthday Party

Last year for Lil’ Red’s 2nd birthday we had a Dr. Seuss  style birthday party. I created some activities for Tot School then, but was not blogging and have not shared them, yet! We go a little theme crazy for birthdays (just ask my hubby!). I spent tons of time searching for ideas online and with the advent of pinterest I can organize my ideas on my Kid’s Party Ideas board!

Tot School- Dr. Seuss Style Tot Trays

I may finally be ahead of the game so to speak! I keep saying that I will participate in “Virtual Book Club for Kids” and then forget to see which author is picked for the month! Low and behold I came across the announcement that Dr. Seuss was the next author. The perfect choice since I had planned to share some Tot Trays with Dr. Seuss Style anyways!

Homeschooled Through High School:

Diana Waring Presents

Wow!  What a delight to be here with all of you.  Thanks so much to Thaleia for inviting me to be a guest blogger on this very exciting site.

And, you know, homeschooling during high school is one of my favorite topics, because the opportunity to homeschool my three teenagers was the highlight of our parenting journey!

But before we go there, may I share with you what research shows about homeschooling our kids all the way through high school?  During a convention workshop, Dr. Jay Wile talked of a study done by Lawrence Rudner, in which homeschool, private school, and public school students were compared.  The first part of the study showed that homeschool students start out ahead of private school students—and keep that slight lead all the way through high school.  Private school students are slightly ahead of public school students. . .until eighth grade.  At that point, public school students begin to diverge, losing ground rapidly compared to both homeschool and private school students.

Homeschooled Through High School: Kerry Jones from Let’s Homeschool High School

Homeschooled Through High School:

Kerry Jones from

Let’s Homeschool High School

Those of us who homeschool or who have been homeschooled through high school know that IT IS VERY Possible.  But how? Many parents and students look towards high school with fear and trepidation instead of being joyous as to how far into the journey they have come. I realize that families homeschool for a multitude of reasons and that each family is unique, but questions still arise when the words high school are mentioned!

Kerry Jones from Let's Homeschool High School

This week I would like to welcome Kerry Jones from Let’s Homeschool High School.

Let's Homeschool Highschool Kerry JonesI’ve been homeschooling for almost 14 years. And no, not in dog years. Which means I’ve been around the home education block a time or two. But the biggest challenge for me today is STILL the same challenge I faced in the beginning – – finding a community of other families to network with and share information with.  Granted, homeschooling has exploded in popularity in the last decade, but sometimes I still have difficulty connecting with families in similar situations or stages to our own.

10 Valentine’s Tot Trays

10 Valentine’s Tot Trays

Why is it when holiday’s seem close together that it is hard to transition from one to the other? In January I thought about Valentine’s activities, but have not gotten them all out till last week or printed until today! I did spend an entire afternoon searching our back porch for my Valentine’s stuff, with the help of my sister, to find them sitting on a high shelf!

Lil’ Red has been enjoying these trays. Some he will do over and over. Other’s he will appease me with a one time completion. Today Princess was home and helping engage him. When he got done with a few he shouted, ” Yah, I won the game. I did it!” Made me smile and so glad that he did his schoolwork without complaining or difficulty! Time to up his trays I think to more difficult/preschool learning.

Yes, Spiderman did make an appearance last week during Tot School!
